They got the game out of the cupboard and scanned and it came up as £25 so bought it. This was the XBOX One version. Probably same on PS4 but didnt check. So ignore shelf price and take to till.

Cracking price for new! Hope it appears online as my nearest Asda is too far away

Even Game have reduced from £41.99 to £29.99 today. Amazon have not changed the price yet.

I used to work for ASDA until 18 months ago and the way prices were changed was a mess to put it nicely.

It all depends on if the colleagues go through the "price changes" sent down from head office daily, often this was not done on time or at all on some departments until they get a call from head office a day or two later saying "What the heck are you doing?".

If the price came down to £25 in the morning I would be massively surprised if it went back up the same day, I have never known this to happen and I did price changes for years in that place.

Having said that, individual stores can override prices, it's just not commonly done because it requires more work and we all like doing extra work don't we?

Worked at Waterstones for around the same time, and it was the same there. Sheets were printed off once a week and we were to check pricing and stickering, on ALL the selected books in store. We could override pricing from HO, but this wasn't common.

Agree in doubting that a price would go down and back up again in the space of a few hours. Think people should challenge this, if the ASDA they're in aren't selling at £25.

£42 shelf price but scanned for £25 in 24-hour ASDA Brighton in Hollingbury at 3pm. Picked up £30 copy of Fallout 4 from Tesco Click and Collect in Shoreham on the way home, and now have a dilemma... :smiley:

I remember when these consoles were announced and thinking "these games will be upwards of £50 and not lose value very quickly". Aside from GTA 5, most games have dropped in value very quickly. Metal Gear Solid certainly isn't an old game. It seems like the Xbox 360 games are holding their value. Maybe because there are about 70 million Xbox 360's in circulation and 15 million Xbox one's? Only guessing the figures but these current gen games are really dropping quickly and I never expected that before the new consoles came out.

this game received killer reviews with hardly anyone rating it below 9/10. why is the value dropping to this so quickly when games like Mad Max and Until Dawn aren't :/

Quick note to say I picked this up on PS4 at Asda in Kettering today. Key thing to note is that this price is only applicable to the standard edition - i'd previously tried Was Rushden and they only had the Day One edition in stock at £42

Got mine today. Went for xbox one version ended up with the Day One edition too. Great game so far for £25.

Sheerwater Asda have this marked up at £42. When I asked them to scan it they told me it's.....£42. :smirk:

I think it's whatever they have in stock. Staff probably wouldn't notice a difference, but if both are scanning at £25 then guess that's the price. Day One edition only has a few extras that can be picked up easily, I believe.

Right to clarify my question earlier what version of MGSV is it? I went into Asda earlier and viewed both were in stock, so for Xbox 1 its - Day One Edition and for PS4 its - Standard. Both at £25 still

i saw this deal in cardiff bay asda the other day. i didnt buy it tho (wish i had now.) they were doing ps4 lego hobit at £10 which i got instead.
both these prices were standard prices not marked as sales.

I expect this deal to change either tomorrow or in the next few days. Someone in my local ASDA is clearly a gamer as section is always neat and labelled properly. When Destiny Taken King was knocked down to £30 it was only for a week and then it went back up to £42 or thereabouts. If you haven't bought this game yet at £25, go get it :smile:
