Have been watching Hot Uk deals like a hawk for cheaper than this but cant see any for a 970. So on scan (its halfway down) I found this.

To buy at the totday only price you must click buy on that page, not the link page.

Oh and It comes with the free game, such as Assassins Creed too!

I was going to hold off but Fallout 4 recommended specs is (for nvidia) a GTX 970 and I cant find it cheaper, there is another one £4 more with a better fan thing on it but im not too fussed. I also got free postage otherwise its about £7.

Its a today only so maybe finished by this time tomorrow.

heres all the fancy stuff:-

EVGA NVIDIA GTX 970 Superclocked ACX 2.0 Graphics Card - 4GB
04G-P4-2974-KR - 4GB EVGA GTX 970 Superclocked ACX 2.0, PCIe 3.0, 7010MHz GDDR5, GPU 1165MHz, Boost 1317MHz, Cores 1664, DP/HDMI/2x DVI

PS. the postage and the fact this has been cheaper is probably why it's cold

£7 postage too much doesn't seem to bad in this day and age (its actually not that much, basket total is only £245.47 inc P&P), what about those from likes of Aria or even Overclockers.
Last time I bought off Aria I ended up with shares in DPD plus Overclockers just as bad (dont buy a monitor at same time as something else or postage shoots right up) or Novatech who want to charge £14.99 to send a 8GB microSD card to Belfast, yet do offer some cheap alternatives to postage should you not want just Next Day

And never been as low as this price according to my search on this Site, Overclockers selling B Grade version for £229.99 was lowest

I looked a lot so couldn't fine it cheaper. If anyone else can let me know. Also anyone know anything about evga overheating due to misplaced cooling pipes
charleaward81 to HOWDEY3

That's long gone, first released batch had this major flaw hence why now revised and labelled ACX 2.0. They fixed it rather quickly in beginning, internet seems to speak highly in all reviews for these cards though and EVGA have really good warranty.

been looking heavily into the FTW overclocked model and this is the cheapest so far. Hot!
DAZZ2000
26 Oct 15 2 #6
Just a shame though that overclockers are the biggest shower of shizer going!. Aria have never let me down as yet though.

....to be fair Scan have been way ahead of both retailers in my experience. Can't recall ever having a parcel chucked in my dirty green wheelie bin by anyone other than Yodel / Dabs or the classic leaving the parcel on your front doorstep when you're out...again a Yodel special.

I guess these retailers won't learn until customers site these experiences as reasons why they've switched to another retailer.

Rant button off

I've bought 2 of the card the strix version both for around £200 using top cashback and bespoke. but u think that has now expired.
DAZZ2000 to brendanhickey
26 Oct 15 #8
Indeed, bespoke is no more unfortunately. Probably didn't help that they were recently offering over 15% cashback via topcashback (which fair play they honoured in my experience) and have previously done such offers as £10 Amazon vouchers for a fiver - with no means of properly regulating the offer and probably getting hammered to death by some of us greedy folk on here :stuck_out_tongue:
DAZZ2000
26 Oct 15 #9
Can't recall any issues myself with DPD either. Overclockers have always been an arrogant bunch. I've dealt with them back in their earlier days and have had plenty of experience dealing with them at their trade counter (if you could call it that).

They used to be renowned for not looking after staff well; I guess it wasn't a surprise then that their after sales/ returns dept stunk like a damp skunk on a hot day.

Much prefer dealing with a company I feel I can trust and pay the carriage costs than save a couple of quid and feel totally shafted when it all goes TU!.
brendanhickey
26 Oct 15 #10
I'm sure the staff would have been milking it too. it would be bizarre if they didn't.
DAZZ2000
26 Oct 15 #11
Next time your round at your Mother In Laws for Sunday dinner any chance you could do me a big favour and ask her to reinstate bespoke offers? :stuck_out_tongue:

Genuinely gutted. I actually used flubit a few times but had a couple of bad experiences so I switched to bespoke / beat my price instead. Fantastic service (albeit I was clueless helping to support flubit too by using bespoke :stuck_out_tongue: ).

Total shame for all concerned there, obviously more so the poor lot that face redundancy over it. That woman responsible should've been shown the door some time ago by the sounds....office politics at its finest there I suspect!.

£245.99 - 4GB EVGA GTX 970 SSC ACX 2.0+ LED Cooler Ed

That's a better deal, because the SSC versions are second generation and have a newer, more efficient cooler and full cooling plate, the maximum the fan goes when overclocked is 36% at full load, it also has dual bios.

Well you would hope so or all for nothing

But I got a few deals with their obscene 18% cashback , best was my Epson SC-P600 £525 printer for less than £400 after cashback and my Epson 1500W for £115 after cashback and loads of small ones, but they soon added up. Plus you could get roughly £2.50-£5 a day at one point via quidco for just posting links for products on their website regardless of whether you bought them. But Majority of cashback along with 6% Quidco Topup went towards my new K-3 II camera so for the short while I couldn't thank them enough for the kick start we got to get something off the ground at very low costs.

And then there's not forgetting the £40 worth of M&S vouchers couple of weeks ago for buying 4 USB sticks we have to buy constantly at a few pence less and the £100 worth of £25 off vouchers for using the same Logitech speaker set they couldn't beat the price on lol

It would be nice to know the staff did get some monies worth out of it, if not then they weren't educated enough really. But they trawled this site most days along with MSE so they knew what they were doing.
charleaward81
26 Oct 15 #14
Think that its long gone, she is relieved more than anything just feels more sorry for staff. Though it was actually good while it lasted, she knew my other half played it, like the Amazon Vouchers last Christmas and everything over last few months but wasn't her project, unlike the issue at the weekend which was her problem

But was is weird is Flubit and Beat My price are one of the same so not sure but Flubit is still there and will be going forward but honestly we have never ever used Flubit just no huge incentives to buy from them, which is annoying as Christmas is fast approaching.
DAZZ2000
26 Oct 15 #15
Flubit is the start-up idea of one of the lads who played Ron Weasleys brother in Harry Potter movies apparently.

The idea is sound and had its merits but it has its flaws. When you buy via bespoke's beat my price and its fulfilled by "fireworks merchant limited" that's flubit's own fulfilment organisation.

I'll give flubit themselves another go in bespoke's absence but agree it was a great service while it lasted...shame what seems to have gone on internally though!.

But anyhow GTX 970 is a good card, we have Gigabyte ITX version (though use R9 390) so for the price and warranty alone (think its only 2 years on Gigabyte one and that was £254.99) you cant go wrong but have to agree with nellygtfc and pay extra £5 for later edition it is just a little faster and it has lights on it  but anyone can move a couple of sliders, also depends on what outputs you need as quick look shows both cards have different selection of outputs.

We have both GTX 970 and R9 390 and latter is better and can be had for exact same price, so depends on your preference.

Ended up with R9 390 as slightly better performance at 1440p+ and the extra VRAM is handy plus someone has asked Santa for VR for Christmas.

27 Oct 15 #18
Yeah, the b-grade is probably what I saw, don't get me wrong, I heated the deal, but it was still cold, was just explaining why that might be, seeing as it's a good price. People always moan about scan, but they've been fine for me.

I never go for overclocked cards they arent tested or dont seem to be... My two previous cards one evga basically one caused random pixel corruption the other crashed computer guess what putting them to stock fixed them both... My advice always get stock clock not worth the headaches.

Have you dealt with them recently?
I bought 2x Strix 970's off them at launch and once RAMgate reared it's head they were the first/only? retailer offering full refunds for anyone that wasn't happy with their cards.
Needless to say I took them up on that offer and since then they've shot up regarding customer service in my books.

Can't fault them myself. I know they have a bad rep from their old days when they were under different management.

Aggghhhhhh FFS a fortnight ago I bought the Super Superclocked version of this from Scan and paid £294. Ahhh well such is life. Got it running with an AMD Phenom Quad core black edition and 24Gb memory. Runs everything I throw at it in ultra settings. amazing card this is.

Not a huge fan of EVGA, but this is a good price for the 970.

I would be tempted to splash the extra on the MSI Twin Frozr model in the other thread, but if you trust EVGA, then good deal.

Excellent card for a good price and the FTW card at £269 is a great price too (may seem pointless to pay more for slightly higher clock speed but its all about the binning process the gpu core will be higher grade)

Agreed, AMD R9 390 is actually the better card overall so would recommend this for 9/10 people (the other 1/10 being Nvidia die hards lol).

PS4 problem is the cost of games... So you could get a PS4 or a 970, but you'll be losing a lot of cash in the extra cost of games.

i own the evga 970 oc edition and its a lovely card. may sli these and get a 4k monitor.

i use oveclockers all the time, they are owned by casecom now and find them superb. prices are generally higher than others but they have better daily offers usually.

Not really, just been on there now as been trying to get free delivery via forum for last few weeks and they have just changed it to 250 posts for free delivery!! So yes improved somewhat.
There is only so many times someone can keep writing hello

Good, that's to prevent people like you who are trying to scrounge free delivery by posting nonsense and abusing a generous offering from succeeding
charleaward81
27 Oct 15 #39
well people wouldn't have to if they didn't rob you blind for actually posting something that's costs them around £5 cost price yet they charge just short of £10. Always nice to have come various options to pick from, like economy delivery say for £5 or even free is spending hundreds

£23.10 postage last order I tried to make so no thanks, actually driving the 200 mile trip for us would of saved us £3

As much as people **** off scan, I for one after placing first order in 2010 could fault them and they seem to charge a pretty decent amount for next day if you don't qualify for free delivery.

Only company I know (OCUK) that advertises an SSD as cheapest in UK at £59.99 but then charges £9.90 to delivery it which then makes it pretty much more expensive than anyone else at the time!!

And yes I have bought many things from OC in the past as long as it falls in their Royal Mail selection for delivery. Though last item Bitfenix Case on a Daily Deal which was a decent offer price at time even with £8 + vat delivery due to Free Led strip and Spectre Fan but came in a shoddy box, looks like it had been used a toolbox in a car workshop, aluminium completely marked and scratched, no plastic covers on window or glossy parts like normally expected, clearly second hand yet selling them as new. Said it was a genuine mistake yet wouldn't arrange collection at their expense, told me to send it back at my cost and they would look to reimburse and then got **** about it.
delboyd
27 Oct 15 #40
Hmm that's fair enough. I bought a GTX970 from them to play 1440p games, when it stuttered like crazy I wondered why. When the 3.5GB revelations came out I complained to them and they said yeah sure it was missold, fair enough.

What made them stand out for me was that when I returned the 970 they gave me a superb deal on the 980 by throwing in 3 more Ubisoft codes for Uplay as well as free postage.

Can't fault them for that.

Although yeah I agree the postage is a rip, but if you're going to use the forums at least post more than "hello" :stuck_out_tongue: I mainly use my Prime subscription from Amazon on everything I buy now, works out much cheaper.

Cheers, any particular reason on xfx? My old card was an xfx and rand for many years with no issue then sold on. Will need to check my psu actually as not sure off top of my head if it's a 650 or 750 and the 390 looks thirsty

I actually ended up cancelled the scan order myself after doing a check on what was better the msi or evga. The Msi in most reviews people prefer. So found the msi gtx970 on Amazon and went on fly bit and got it for £144 only £5 more. Just a heads up for anyone torn
nellygtfc to HOWDEY3
28 Oct 15 #46
From the reviews I've read the MSI 970 Gaming runs cooler, it has 100mm fans as opposed to the EVGA's 80mm fans. EVGA has transferable warranty and they are about to announce a UK shipping return address for RMA's for all their products, which is great news, no more sending to Germany after the one year return to retailer.

On the other hand, when you purchase any product from Amazon, they cover you for the entire warranty if anything goes wrong, full refund, so you can't go wrong buying from there.

An excellent card for that price to be honest, i have sold mine recently for £230.00 it was barely used even though I bought January. Postage was a little expensive. Most importantly, I had a great time with this card. Now though its ~ TITAN X
