Duke Nukem, the politically incorrect celebrity and ultimate alien ass kicker, defends Earth and its babes from alien invasion. He is a can-do hero who realizes that sometimes innocent people have to die in order to save Earth, so accuracy of gun fire is not a real concern to him. This is the award-winning game that helped define the FPS genre and introduced unparalleled interactivity and a talking main character.
Take the fight to the aliens in Hollywood, Los Angeles, a moon base and alien spacecraft. Defeat the aliens, so Duke can get back to some R&R with a stogie, a warm belly and a bottle of Jack.

Ive said it before when i have seen this game cheap thats it a bargain but not sure its ever been this cheap! One of my favs growing up! Im sure everyone knows about about the graphics mods like the high resolution pack but thought it was worth saying as your missing out if you haven't tried them out! Can get the game looking amazing! Also on the subject of quake i modded mine with a mod called dark places i think it was and the graphics were unreal! I disliked alot of the other mods as they added too much light and took away from the quake feel but was pretty impressed by that one  well worth tinkering with hehe

They were the same genre but with different style and doing different things. In all fairness as I recall it Quake started the 'Capture the flag' multiplay game which then feature on Duke 3D thanks to the availibility of the source code. Who ever made the Command & Conquer series then went on to use it in Red Alert and following games. Quake is also a great but different game and influenced future games without doubt.

HEAT, Quake was its main competition at that time and Quake was a great game too. But Duke Nukem just had so much more fun to it, especially multi player. It has stood the test of time somewhat also.

Indeed, I sat on the quake side of the fence... I spent a long time playing that game online!
