The Derbyshire Hotel is a 4-star property on the edge of the Peak District. It's a great base from which to explore the Peaks and the Derbyshire Dales, and it's within a 60-minute drive of Ashbourne, Bakewell, Buxton and Matlock.
Chatsworth House -- the manor-house home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, which is noted for its "ornamental gardens" by Lonely Planet -- is a 40-minute drive from the hotel. Other local attractions include Sherwood Forest (the legendary home of Robin Hood), Bolsover Castle, Hardwick Hall and Alton Towers.
Dinner is served in the Tempus Restaurant. You can choose two courses from the evening menu, which includes starters such as pressed terrine of confit pork and prune, and main courses such as the Tempus catch of the day. The hotel has a Day Deli that serves lunch and a bar with an extensive wine list.
Guests can use the hotel's health club facilities, which include an indoor heated swimming pool, a Jacuzzi, a sauna, a steam room and a gym. Wi-Fi is free in all 157 bedrooms.

It is literally just off the southbound exit of the M1 J28. Been to wedding receptions there etc and for the money and a base to go see place that are within driving distance it's not a bad deal., can't comment on the restaurant as never been. But if your gonna do the peaks, actually go further in and stay somewhere that has a bit of character with some good pubs etc. fair price though.

I live about 10 minutes away. It's just a rep hotel between the motorway and an industrial estate. Nothing special, we used to put people up there from work and they usually preferred the Premier Inn over the road.

Have stayed at the Derbyshire Hotel on a number of occasions when on business. Rooms need a refurb, IMHO: they're dark & lifeless, the TVs are still CRTs. The restaurant, however, is excellent, & they're very accommodating of Celiacs / gluten intolerance.
