Heard today from a Marks and Spencer employee in store, that from tomorrow its Cyber Wednesday for 2 days only for online shopping. They have 20% off clothing and maybe gifts. Time to use your new Sparks card to collect points too. Hope this heads up helps everyone on HUKD.

Don't they do 20% off all the time? Why is this time any different?
vvee to pinkchick1987
4 Nov 15#46
Not all the time, but you do catch them more and more now. I don't think it is any different (well, from the times the offer is actually on).
It is good for people wanting to buy, whenever a code is on, but if you mean why does it have more heat that it might other times? I am guessing especially because of people buying Christmas gifts etc now.
pinkchick1987
4 Nov 152#47
Not necessarily because of the heat, just wondered if I was missing a vital element to the deal that made it different!
Refreshed and the prices updated in my basket so seems sorted now

This is an offer which M&S continue to run very regularly, in store & on line. Seems that 20% off is built into the profit margins.

does the staff discount apply itself when you log in with the account? so will it take the 20% staff discount automatically?
amerjitdosanjh7

I'm assuming yes as the person I know bought few things not long ago and it showed the discounted price because staff enter their staff discount details onto their m&s shopping account

Another BS 'sale' to suck in gullible consumers. There is a handful of things the deal applies to and most of those from what I can tell at quick glance are just dearer than others.
Sure it's a deal if you can get something that you were going to buy anyway but I have had £150 of M&S vouchers through work for 2 years and still never found anything worth buying that was not quite a bit dearer than elsewhere for the same 'quality'; and that includes their food! For me if I struggle to spend free money at a store even in 'sales' etc then it's a store for those who aren't smart enough or don't have time to think about what they are buying.
Don't get me wrong, I want to spend my vouchers but I can't see the sense in using them just for the sake of it. M&S are yet to convince me.
summerof76 to baggs1981
4 Nov 15#91
Why don't you use the vouchers for a christmas food shop instead of leaving them for a rainy day
mickey_brock to baggs1981
4 Nov 15#99
well if your smarter than everyone else just keep hold of your vouchers , or sell them to some one , if your not smart enough to think of that for yourself then maybe the people whp you have pointed out at not being smart will buy them from you and its a win win situation all round , but thats only if your smart enough to do it , but judging by how long you have had them and do not like anything at M & S just keep hold of them but that is not the smart move because you have money you cant/wont spend maybe them people who you called not smart could buy something and wear it all the time you have nothing , your post was not that smart as you think it was

I hadn't yet chosen my sparks offers so opted for jeans and jeggings offer - got this 20% off, then a further 20% off the lower price using the Sparks card offer so £35 down to £22.40

Yes, I wasted about two hours putting up with their slow website tonight with lots of messages saying the website was busier than normal and to check back later. Then the checkout failed repeatedly. Mysteriously after the midnight discount deadline has past, I can checkout - but my basket has automatically reverted to full price. Dumping my full basket and exiting the store in frustration doesn't have the same satisfying effect online as it does in the real world :disappointed:

I used the online chat to express my disgust at them emailing me about the offer only 3hrs before midnight and the nice lady said she was happy to extend it for me and gave me a code in the chat window. Sorry I didn't write it down I just copy/pasted it in when I ordered.
