Bought one of these this morning in Home Bargains for our Christmas Eve box, going to put new pjs, Christmas books and DVDs in for the children on Christmas Eve. It is very sturdy, could be used as a gift box or for storing Christmas decorations in

me & my hubby had a big row a few years ago when he refused to buy new pjs for Christmas I was fuming at him. I told him our family had always had new jammies for Christmas he said it was something his family had never done or heard of. I told him either new pjs or go back to your mums for Christmas! safe to say he looked gorgeous in his elf pyjamas

We had a discussion at work the other day and it's surprising how many people had never heard of new pjs for Christmas.

I thought most people done this with their children.
Bath and New pj's Christmas Eve. All the children in my family do this every year until they get too old.

It's nice but the price is to high for me if it was £3.99 that would be better.

I saw these today, they are beautiful when you see them in person; they are considerably thicker than cardboard and have studded poppers on the edges to hold the sides in place (can therefore be packed away and used again)

Good price if they last a few years to be packed away with the Christmas decorations.
You fill it with new pj's, christmas book, christmas movie, hot chocolate and kids bubble bath.
The idea is to get the kids washed and in nice pj's for Christmas morning photos and relaxed and excited curled up with their santa movie with a hot chocolate before bed and santa themed story.
We did all this as a kid but it never came with a box lol

Brilliant! Thanks. Just what I've been looking for and a great price to be used for storage of Christmas decs after use each year. Brilliant price.

Wow you argue over something so trivial!
Buy them yourself if it's such s big deal , or maybe don't buy them and give the money to a good charity instead .

I had a look at this box yesterday and it is really thick hard cardboard. The sides have heavy duty press studs. Could be used for more than Christmas decs. Good box for kids toys or storage of anything.

Where the elf leaves it full of new PJ's, hot chocolate, reindeer food & a Chrismas Eve DVD ?

Some right old Scrooge's on here. If people want new jarmies and it makes them happy then why not. I started a Christmas eve box for my little girl last year. She loved it. This year we're starting elf on the shelf. Anything to add a bit of magic. They're not young for long!

17 Nov 15#40
Yep. I think the idea is you fill it up on Christmas Eve and open it on 25th.
Not a concept I'm familiar with until the shops decided there was money to be made, so I could be wrong. :stuck_out_tongue:

According to this thread, the idea is that your children open it on Christmas eve and it contains new pyjamas, a dvd and hot chocolate? Turning normal routine into some weird contrived thing.

Wow. So many complaints just because people don't share your family's Christmas traditions, and because you took the time to try to help people by letting them know about a box that you thought that people might like to know about.
I've bought similar boxes before, and they are very sturdy. It seems unfair to describe them as a cardboard box - they are not like a brown delivery box - they are much better quality. The manufacturer probably does make a huge profit on it, but I don't see how that is relevant to it being a deal. If it buys you more than £7 of enjoyment over the years, it's well worth it.

17 Nov 15#47
I've not voted either way as it is a cardboard box and without seeing it I wouldn't want to comment on value. I think it's a lovely idea though. I think kids they grow up with these sorts of traditions have very fond memories as adults. They bring families together and its a time to put a little more thought into our otherwise busy lives. I'll be making my own one this year.

WTF is a Christmas Eve Box? Seriously! I've been alive and living in the
UK for decades and have never heard of such a thing. I've Googled it and far as
I can tell it's just something one person invented fairly recently as a way to some money. Someone who writes "two years ago" without providng any indication of the date of writing. But they mention Facebook so can't me more than ten years ago. http://thechristmasevebox.weebly.com/about.html
So it's another 'tradition' that exists purely to drive commercialism.

I've seen Christmas Eve boxs the last few years on Facebook never done it. Never done new pyjamas a friends told me they did it a few years back so th kids looked smart for Christmas Day pics.... I just wear clean pyjamas if u need a new pair hair enough other wise isn't something I'd bother with, everyone has there own traditions tho

Didn't realise my post would cause debate! Just to add they had the same box design in my local without any of the writing on just to be used as a storage box also for £6.99. We have always done the new pjs thing from when I was a child which I have carried on with my children. Only heard about the Christmas box idea last year and thought I would try it out, just a mummy trying to make Christmas magical for my little ones!

The OP (ie me!) hasn't passed any snide comments about the date! Comment as you will about the quality of the deal it's not for everyone just wanted to help people out.
