There is a best before, but hard to decipher even for the staff, so often fruit & veg past this date is left to go mouldy
It's displayed as year, week no, then day no, eg 15426 means 2015 42nd week, Saturday. I never know the week number, so just look for the highest value
Don't worry on Celebrations, they don't last that long

All the Aldi stores I have visited were genuine. Has anyone apart from andykapa, come across a fake one?

The only complaint I have with Aldi is their fruit and veg can spoil slightly quicker than that of main supermarkets.... Their own band stuff is pretty good and definitely better than Asda in my opinion.... I would say on par with Sainsburys but a lot lighter on the pocket.... I do hate all the rushing through the tills though but to save that much each week it is something I'm prepared to to do...

Do you think the fruit and veg spoil slightly quicker because there are not as much chemicals on them to preserve them?? Just a question!!

Nice thought but sadly no..... If you notice on Aldi fruit and veg they don't display their best before dates like other supermarkets do.... The only reason they do this is so they can sell them right up to the last date possible.... While in tesco for example you can rummage around and pick out the longest date.

I have come across stores that have sold fake goods, I never for once have stumbled upon a fake store though I have not been to China where they do actually [exist]

Surely if its cheapest price then it has to be hot, petty miserable gitedness aside.
Why on gods earth should there be a best before on fruit and veg anyway, most stupid idea ever best before dates anyway they're responsible for heinous food wastage. If you find their fruit and veg doesn't last as long it could be partly due to Aldi etc don't chill their fruit and veg areas like other supermarkets. Can't say that I've noticed any difference between any of the supermarkets at all.
I'd much rather shop in Aldi than ASDA any day bloody awful experience ASDA shopping is, pallets all over the shop floor, staff shelf stacking leaving cages in the middle of aisles (years ago I worked in ASDA and we would've gotten told off for doing that), was in there at 7pm one evening and someone started turning the lights off, then on, then off lol nightmare and lastly our one is full of scum.

Yeah you need to keep an eye out for those fake Aldis, hard to spot they are.

I saw one once in Dewsbury, looked fine but then we realised that it was just a front constructed from papier mache, and the entire window display was just a load of A3 photos taped together. I've also heard rumours of Chinese knock-offs - Ladis - about to flood the market...

It's nothing to do with the price, anything to do with aldi or lidl and people get a right stiffy on this site as it's the new cool place to shop,
Is there a dress code for aldi and lidl,as every male I see going in is wearing Jesus creepers, knee socks and beige shorts and pull up in a Nissan Leaf or some other environmentally friendly car.

I asked someone in aldi about the date and it is there. But, it goes by the week number then the day of the week. So Tuesday 17th nov would be 4702. Sometimes it takes a bit of finding, but it is there. Hope this helps
