I think that's as good a spec as you'll get for a hardtail 29er at that price, and Carrera bikes are OK- they often get good magazine reviews.

Suntour XCM forks often have a lockout, but it's a pity the XCM-DS variant on this bike doesn't.

decent for the price. the only sad thing here is that it's a halfords bike. still, hot for me.

Its £269. not bad really. my daughter has a full suspension carrera. very light. she loves it. gears are good. Disc brakes work well too.

On a serious note, it's probably similar spec to my specialized hardrock sport disc which is perfectly capable for the odd leisure ride, tootling around the candles etc... Hot from me!

It's not that Halfords bike are bad - it's just they are priced at double the correct price as 'rrp' generally.

The fork is a piece of **** but at least Suntour have a good upgrade program if this gets you into the sport.

Do people still buy halfords bikes?

Never had a problem with Halfords but have had problems with "descent" bike shops.

Got a Vulcan 2014, great bike to go out with my daughter on even if the seat is a little hard. Lockout forks too which is nice.

Not bad for the price, miles better than a catalogue bike for sure but with bikes you always get what you pay for (like most things)

Better off getting the btwin 500s better value for money and actually has proper suspension absolute pile of **** for the money your spending.
