These Block Tech advent calendars are similar to the Lego ones, only much cheaper.Originally £15, then half price to £7.50, but now only £5! at StoreTwentyOne.
Lego purists will probably complain (so why bother looking at this deal?!) but ultimately these advent calendars are all about a bit of fun for the Christmas season, allowing children to build a Christmassy winter scene as the days go by, and healthier than a chocolate one!.IMO, They'll get just as much fun from this set at £5, than if you spent £20 or more on a Lego one, afterall it's a novelty.
They also had lots of childrens games (versions of traditional type PopOmatic etc) including a really good Block Tech Blocks & Ladders game all half price to £5, although I wouldn't take much notice of the 'supposed half price', but good value at £5 all the same.Even better, buy 1, get a 2nd half price, so 2 for £7.50!
P.S If you don't have a StoreTwentyOne nearby, The Entertainer also sell some of the games at £5, and the advent calendar at £7.50

Maybe they're just spoilt brats! We'd all prefer to buy Lego, but you know what, not everyone wants or can afford to spend £20 on a advent calendar.People forget part of the fun of construction toys is the child using their imagination, so you need to look at them through children's eyes, not your own, and I'm guessing most will not have tears, but fun!

dreadful reviews on Amazon, along the lines of cost isn't worth the price of my little boy in tears every morning etc. maybe a good deal for kids who are too young to tell it's not real lego

The difference between this and the lego ones, is that the kids will be able to play with the lego for years to come, whilst this one is just a waste of £5. I got a the lego star wars and lego city ones for £25 for both, considering they have a minifigure or a model every day it is definitely worth it.

A nice cheap alternative for people that don't want to spend £20 on a Lego calendar.

A lot of lego purists give products they have never owned bad reviews....just sayin'
Block tech are hit and miss because they source from various Chinese block makers, some sets come close or meet lego quality and some are absolutely rubbish.

I have a 3 year old who wants one but would not spend that on Lego as I know within days it will just be up my Hoover so this is a good buy.
Thanks will check my store for one

I picked up two Lego friends ones and a playmobil on the current Argos 3 for 2 so the worked out at just under £13 each! Don't know if this helps you?!

I just worked out that the Wilko blox Advent calender is the same and also £5. Although it's out of the same factory the Wilko set may possibly have better quality control but also you'll have better customer service if you need to return or exchange it etc.

As I mentioned they also sell this exact same set in The Entertainer, although slightly more expensive at £7.50, but good to know you can also buy in Wilko at the same price.

I take it you haven't actually tried building it yet? Bad instructions, awful figures and a bad design are no patch on proper Lego, I was unfortunate to have to try building an Ice Cream Van once and it was enough to put me off cheap brands forever, cheap yes but cheerful NO.
Once you've tried Block there is going back!

Yeah! Let's ban own brand groceries and third party car parts and compatible printer ink too! What the world needs is just a few companies monopolising their respective markets.

You must have got a bad set mate the one I got was absolutely fine for £2. No deformed or missing pieces, clutch strength of the blocks was about perfect and the instructions were easy to follow. My 4 year old couldn't tell the difference from real lego even if it's more apparent to adults. I've also had no problems with their tank, crocodile, panda, lorry and trailer, pirate ship and space rocket launch complex.
I got a set from there about 5 years ago that was shocking but they appear to use better suppliers nowadays.
It's obviously not up to lego quality but it's about 1/4 the price and better than a lot of the stuff out there.

one of the reindeer sets identical to the one here is available on its own in poundland, with the Christmas items not with the other block tech boxes
