This is a great deal. I was lucky enough to get the game for £35 from Simplygames and now this season pass for £28.50.
Some people purchased even the standard edition for £50! and the season pass for £35. Glad I saved abit :smirk:

Thank God someone else now finally pointed this out!! £40 is not a lot for a blockbuster game that cost millions to develop.
£40 is not a lot for me to pay for a game when I will play it for a year, especially considering Sky TV now costs what, about £30 a month is it?
And £40 is not a lot for a game when I was paying about £35 for a Sega Megadrive game back in 1991 when I was 16 and that game cost me about a third of my whole weeks wage.

Thanks, @zombrex seemed to think it was not, Trying to decide if I should go for it or not.
Never bought a season pass before and certainly not any DLC without seeing it. But this is probably as good a price as we can expect because they rarely come down in price.
Ps. It is back in stock so perhaps unexpire

Played Black Ops 1 - thought it was garbage, played Black Ops 2 - MEH - Played Black Ops 3 - An improvement over its predecessors in the series but more of the same garbage - They seem to have gone backwards in terms of what they are trying to offer the gamer - I aint just jumping on the bandwagon here either, I have been playing COD for many, many years now and sadly leaving the series.

Black Ops 3 is 1000 times better than the Advance Warfare heap of cowpat that came out last year. Only COD to surpass this is MW2 and 1

So this is not a DLC code and in fact just credit? Did you read this somewhere or did you find that by buying it yourself?
I ask as my wallet is pretty much full so if it's credit then it's no good to me.

It's more than that, I think it's 4 sets of dlc, each with multiple maps in it.
Or it has been in past.

Any industry where large sums of money are involved are subject to risk. that is not exclusive to the game industry. Take the movie industry, they repeated make films that cost more than games and production companies can go out of business on the back of a few poorly received films. However, it costs far less to see a film (or own it) than it does to play or own a game because there is a bigger pool of potential buyers. The price points are set very carefully in both industries, not for our benefit, but calculated at the point they feel they'll make the most profit. If it was calculated at £50 they would only sell half as many copies than £40 then £40 is the most profitable price regardless of future DLC.
Free to play games use a different business model to the types of games we are talking about here and aren't really relevant to the original discussion, although publishers are now sneaking microtransaction in to their full price games to see what they can get away with. I think what most people forget who bring up comments about the price not changing and how we are entitled gamers (to be clear I'm not insinuating that you are saying that last thing) is that as the consumer you have a lot to do with setting the price, it just takes most gamers to turn around and say no to the practices that have crept in to gaming over the past 15 years for them to stop. Of course that isn't going to happen because people are willing to accept things like day one DLC, part of games being locked away to all but those who pre-order, microtransaction, expensive DLC (I remember UT used to give map packs away for free as a thanks to the community, now it is ok to pay £12 for a bunch of five (some recycled) maps in CoD) and all those other practices that are destroying what gaming used to be.
As for £25 games on PC blowing your mind, until mid last gen you could buy any new releases (physical copies too) on PC for £17.99 or less from stores like Play (when it used to be a good site). You also used to get new console releases last gen for around the £30 mark, now £40 seems about standard so even if the RRP hasn't risen (which I think it has by £5 anyway, although USA remains the same $60) the prices are certainly higher.
adam0812
9 Nov 15#44
you only need to look at how many devs and publishers went pop last generation to see how risky game development is. DLC doesnt keep the cost of games down? how is it that there are so many free to play games then?
i'm just realistic, i game on PC nowadays so rarely have to pay more than £25 for a new release which simply blows my mind. Sure this is by taking advantage of regional discrepancies like pricing in brazil but it allows me to buy more games and distribute the wealth.
Sure there are a few companies making hand over fist like activision, EA and so forth but i think you would be surprised at how many games are actually profitable.
Not really, manufacturing and distribution costs are a fraction of what they were (no expensive proprietary cartridges, games no longer come in big boxes with sizeable manuals, the global distribution network is now a much more functional and affordable service which, coupled with smaller game case sizes, makes shipping much cheaper, digital distribution makes things even cheaper, etc). Add to this that there is a larger consumer base and it is no shock that the game industry is bigger business than it was even 10 years ago. DLC doesn't keep game costs down, it just milks more money out of the users. Still, given the amount of times I've seen this comment it proves that the PR department is paying for itself

Back in the day my mate told me they used to get copied games for whatever ancient computers they used then. The argument was your stealing from the producers and therefore they have less money to make better games. Now it looks like its turned full circle lol. Buy game for online play, servers useless, pay extra for what should've been included in the first place lol.

hmmm perhaps the cost of production. adjusting for inflation games are cheaper than they have ever been (this is fact) yet production costs have skyrocketed (allegedly about 5x going from SD > HD).

Do people really enjoy paying for something when they don't know what they're getting? How do you know you're going to like every piece of DLC bundled in this season pass? Wouldn't you rather wait for them to release first, watch some extended gameplay footage, read a few reviews and then make up your mind?
The saving you make by buying a season pass as opposed to paying separately for each map pack is so miniscule that it isn't even worth considering. I'd rather wait and see what I get before handing over my hard earned cash. These season passes are daylight robbery and how they've become so popular and mainstream is beyond me.
