B&M has 400g of Bird's Custard Powder for 49p. Found this yesterday. (Never posted a new deal on this site before, so will try to figure that out and post when I get the chance.)

Personally, I think that the normal mainstream supermarket price - around 99p a tin - for Ambrosia rice pudding is daylight robbery.

Birds and Ambrosia are the same company - Premier foods, and both the ready-to-use custard and rice pudding are made in the same factory in Devon. In my experience, any differences in the ingredients of the two products are negligible, so they are to all intents and purposes the same. Bargain Buys also have these at 3 for a pound, which works out at 33p a tin, so it's worth keeping a look out for them in similar retailers.

The powder is better. As you make the custard with no sugar or a little bit of sugar. The tinned ready custard is way too sweet. !
