I'm going in way before 5. I'm going to fill 2 trolleys till they're overflowing and wait at the side of the checkouts until the clock is about to tick to 5 and then I'll pounce and pay for it all with my benefit money.

If you are planning to go for this it's probably best to get in about 4:30PM and go through the tills just after 5PM before the crowds arrive after work.

16 Nov 15#25
Yeah, a proper Black Friday deal (not that we should have them in this country) would see deep discounts on a selected range of products, usually where the retailer is trying to get rid of last few items.
This is just a standard "10% discount" offer.
McHotpoon to lianne21
16 Nov 151#61
Yeah, but if your the kind of person who drops £150 in B&M then it may be worth it but 10% wont motivate me to spend time in there on Friday. John Lewis, Richer Sounds maybe Currys/PC World, have a peek in Argos then online for Amazon, Tesco and Ebuyer.

Okay, at the time I posted my original comment, I was deliberately being facetious, but at the same time, if it had been spoken word, there would have been a tone of me taking the **** rather than being out and out serious.
God, you should have seen the queue when Poundworld closed down in Watford a few weeks back. That quite literally was bottom of the gene pool queuing!
Of course, everyone gets on their high horse about such a flippant comment.
I also said that I do shop in B&M, specifically for things, like American food, that other retailers are deliberately ripping off customers for.

Just thought I'd say just because a shop has ten percent off doesn't mean only people on benefits shop there , very snobby comment , why pay more for something like Lego for example when you can get it cheaper at another shop and get an extra ten percent off at the same time being shop savvy really

I find myself wondering what heights of social and financial status you've risen-to which leaves you with nothing better to do than post derisive comments about those you perceive as "below you" on a bargains forum at 2:45pm on a Monday afternoon?
Don't you people have staff to post derisive comments for you whilst you're sipping Fornum's tea and having your forehead polished?
bonzobanana
16 Nov 15#46
The main issue I have with B&M is they often don't honour the clearance discounts. It seems to be because the manager has to come out to authorise the transaction on occasion. I've bought clearance bread and the till operator has to wait for the manager to authorise much to the annoyance of myself and other people waiting. Hopefully they have stopped doing this but if they don't check your clearance items have gone through discounted. I tend to make sure mine are the last items on the conveyor and then check the discount is applied.

16 Nov 15#44
I'm the manager in Luton and every store is 10% off everything from 5pm until 10 pm unless it's a tiny store that shuts earlier. Lots of events going on like fancy dress and raffles, plus we have already started relieving pallets of black Friday sale stock. If you want those specific deals then might be worth going in before the 10% starts as they go quick! Also it will be busy but we have a lot of extra staff in :-) we will be very prepared! !

16 Nov 152#43
Good for you BUT you were slating BENEFIT CLAIMANTS when in fact you are claiming child BENEFIT yourself through choice .... SORRY it just winds me up when people slate benefit claimants without knowing a thing about them or there circumstances and no one knows when or if they will ever become a claimant themselves or actually receive a benefit themselves...... I claim child benefit myself and am also in full time work i dont look down on people because there down on there luck
WalkerboyUK
16 Nov 15#42
Actually ours goes into a savings account for the kids, seeing as it's actually given by the government for them.
Maybe I should just go back to the original post and say "benefit claimers, outside those who receive child benefit".
WalkerboyUK
16 Nov 15#40
Actually, you can't stop receiving child benefit!
The only way it can be stopped is by proving you earn over the £50k threshold, which I don't.
You cannot choose to stop receiving it as technically it is given to the child.
rich172 to WalkerboyUK
16 Nov 151#41
WRONG... just ring them up and they will stop the benefit a child cannot claim as it's not of age you as a parent are claiming for them they can not force you to receive the BENEFIT and if you dont want to be a BENEFIT CLAIMANT give it to charity ... OR stop tarring everyone with the same brush regarding claiming benefits

WRONG .... There is an option to opt out just ring them and it will be done no one is forcing you to take it your choosing not to stop claiming so you have 2 kids and CLAIM child benefit so you are talking about the likes of yourself
WalkerboyUK
16 Nov 15#34
No she got Family Allowance, which is now known as Child Benefit.
