Highlights
- One of the slimmest and lightest 13.3” laptops in the world
- Premium all-aluminium construction
- Intel® Core™ M processing delivers great performance without compromising battery life
- Full HD screen makes for highly-detailed films, games and everyday browsing
Premium portable computing
The Zenbook UX305 is just 12.3 mm thick and weighs a mere 1.2 kg, making it one of the slimmest laptops in the world.
Despite its size, it isn't at all fragile thanks to the all-aluminium construction. Plus, the clearly premium spun cover gives a discrete and refined look that fits into any professional situation.
All-new Intel® technology
One of the reasons the Zenbook UX305 is so thin is that it's powered by the new Intel® Core™ M processor. It's much more compact than other processors and requires no large cooling fans, so can be intelligently placed inside the chassis to completely maximise space.
The Core™ M is designed to deliver power when you need it and efficiency when you don't, so you can enjoy high performance computing when working and a longer battery life when simply browsing the web or chatting to friends.
Cutting-edge storage
On-board file storage comes courtesy of a solid-state drive (SSD). Much smaller and faster than a regular hard drive, an SSD speeds up booting, loading and helps deliver smooth computing from the second you turn on.
High definition media
From quickly editing a photo to streaming HD films, you can expect beautifully detailed visuals thanks to the Full HD screen.
Bang & Olufsen ICEpower audio makes sure your films and music sound great, whether you're listening through via headphones or the built-in speakers.
Windows 10
If you're an experienced Windows user you'll be pleased with the return of the familiar Start button and menu, while everyone will benefit from the many new and exciting features designed to make accessing what matters to you quick and easy.
Windows 10 features the new Edge browser, which gives you a much bigger viewing area for enjoying your online content at its best. You can write notes directly onto web pages and share them with anyone - perfect for students or business.
Working between different software or keeping an eye on social media while you work has never been easier; you can now snap up to four apps to any location on the screen for effortless multitasking. You can even create individual desktops for specific projects and tasks.
Whatever you're doing, Windows 10 makes your PC work the way you want.
Beautifully designed and built from premium materials, the Asus Zenbook UX305 13.3” Laptop is ideal for high-end computing on the go.

Because it's an Ultrabook - thinner, lighter, more portable, and arguably sexier than your average laptop. You could say it's the PC equivalent of a Macbook Air.
The specs are certainly not top-end, but they're good enough for normal usage. Whether the price premium is worth it depends entirely on your point of view.

I don't know what it is about currys, but we had the worst sales assistant ever at Southend - he outright refused to go get a laptop for us, insisting that a cheaper one would be better - I assume because that way we'd have free money to buy an extended warranty, a case, or whatever.
We just walked out and bought it from another branch.

Shocking how much more expensive laptops are here in comparison to the states:
If john lewis will price match then you would get a 3 year warranty included as it says at no extra cost so cannot really say it is 100 more as you get that extra.

Not sure that trade in is very generous. Might save a bit of hassle selling in the small ads, but would guess not many have a computer meeting their spec worth much less than £100 anyway.

Hey, if you've been chasing one of these - relax! From tomorrow (or today in some stores) the standard price will be £499. The clearance was on models that hadn't been updated to Windows 10. But all stores now have the new models and the price has been cut.
Still not sure if I want one though.... hmm..

Nice post if you fancy and ultrabook. I have a Lenovo Yoga and dont think I could go back to a normal laptop. I think there is a further £20 off to be had with the below O2 prioirty deal too.
Just read the T&C's - 'Cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer' & 'For any issues redeeming this offer please speak to store manager'
Still worth a punt maybe.

I wonder whether I should upgrade to this.
I bought an Acer s7-391 white ultrabook 2 1/2 years ago, and paid £430 for an ex display at Currys. The specs are similar, Intel Core i5-3317U 1.7GHz 128GB SSD, only 4GB RAM, but a 13.3 IPS touchscreen full HD. The battery life is not impressive on the Acer, probably half that of the Asus. But it's a very thin and light laptop at 1.2kg
I somehow expected the Asus to have a touchscreen, given the cost of material probably came down a bit. Not sure how the CPUs compare ? Is a newer M processor better than the third gen i5 ?

Would this be okay for gaming?
I'm not expecting it to run the latest games at Ultra, of course, but I'm looking for something that'll run recent games on low settings, and play games from a year or two ago just fine...
I'm not very technically minded, but basically I want something that's fairly comparable to my desktop - which has an i3-4160 cpu and a 750ti gpu. Knowing very little about computers and having never owned a laptop I have no idea what I'm looking at/for, so any help or advice is very much appreciated!

If you are a student it might be worth considering the current Unidays promotion giving you 20% off virtually anything in Currys, so you could get this for about 440£ which makes it a far better deal than the pc.co.uk one, not to mention this is a pretty mainstream device hence far more support and other people using it if something goes wrong.
Don't get me wrong, I love pcspecialist and would actually say Lafite 2 is a better buy than engima (but that depends on what you are looking for I guess). But the problem with their pricing is that they are never really a deal but always an ok price so if you can't wait for deals like this you can buy from them but apart from some rare occasions I have never seen a truly awesome deal there (they have to make money after all) and there are some appalling examples of poor customer service from them to be taken into consideration.

I am not affiliated with the company in anyway. I was going to buy the Asus but found the one i previously talked about which is better for the money. I am a student so just waiting to find some extra cash before buying. I dont get grants and didnt take a loan so it might be a while.

For those looking for a ultrabook i would recommend pc.co.uk , they have 14" Enigma VI which can be configured. With Core M, 8gb RAM and 256gb SSD its £582inc VAT. Have not bought this model myself but have bought another previously and happy with the company and product.
