^^This. Reservation cancelled for staff purchase. I know someone who worked in a combined Curry's/PC World superstore who said the reservation system was monitored for any cracking bargains. These would be cancelled and then sold with staff discount so it was an even better buy.

Even for someone using ms office these things are very slow. I wish people would realise there's a reason they're so cheap.

Loads at hove currys. Staff won't buy these they are specs are not good. In fact they are only reduced by £20.

Surely with 500Gb HDD this is a better deal that the Argos £129 Acer V3 112 deal posted on here yesterday? Or am I missing something?

Did people get this price as I've had a message telling me it's the wrong price and I need to purchase updates for Windows 10 or something for an additional £35 and the price is wrong

My friend just dropped it off. She said they tried to charge her 35 instore for the preloaded software and the 32gb back up stick they have preset it up with. They then reduced it to 10 when she told them she was collecting for someone else and she only had 150 they let her have it for free. Maybe u got the email after I'd already collected mine. Once they realised the issue

I have managed to reserve one but just read the reviews about how slow it is. Will it be OK for homework and streaming films and TV series on? Was looking to buy this for my 15 year old daughter.

Celeron. Will be slow for EVERYTHING.
And no, I won't advise you to buy a SSD to speed it up!!

Any similar laptop with Faster performance and optical disc drive from Argos or PC world?

N2840 really struggles with just about anything, it's like a tablet CPU

its Intel Celeron so its a budget processor. i would begrudge paying £150 for something that needs a instant upgrade.

poor specs, would rather pay more for something better.

Just pop in extra 2gb ram ( £5 used on ebay) and 120gb ssd ( £26) and you will have a decent Laptop for cheap that will manage lots of things even with its weak cpu.

This laptop is utter crap, you have been warned. Happy wishing you still had £149.

It may say "Celeron" but it's basically an Atom. The CPU that goes in tablets. It's quite literally a tablet CPU.
Personally I would only consider the N2930, which is a quad core and much faster.

Bought it when it was £169, This is not the quickest of laptops, especially on windows 8. Managed to easily update to 10, which has helped improved performance. Perfect of Internet, Facebook, word processing.

got this ... very slow out of the box but after an upgrade to win 10 and putting in an 8 gb memory module it has improved greatly. Great for homework and surfing. Beware though , it needs an expert to strip it down and put the memory in
