Ardmore Legacy a tasty single malt whisky is currently reduced at Morrisons from £30 to an even tastier £20. A friend who knows more about such things declared it "bloomin' gorgeous" - though personal tastes obviously vary. Seems like a decent deal and the timing is just right for stocking up for Christmas!

Same price at asda, tesco and Morrison. £20 is reasonable. Legacy is good for every day drink

I was more on about people paying £15-18 for grouse/bells. But yes, you are quite right.

This is snobbishness gone mad! The main difference between "blended" and "single malt" is consistency of taste - nothing else. Blenders use their skill to continually produce a blend with the same taste regardless of when you buy it unlike single malts which differ considerably depending on age, maturity, casking, storeage, etc. This is why the Whiskey Society offers buyers the same single but from different numbered barrels - because they taste DIFFERENT!
Single malt is now very often used by marketers to sell cheaply produced single malt under names designed to catch the imagination of the masses e.g. "Bonnie Charlie's Own Bond" - sounds great but means nothing. So anyone who thinks "blended" means lesser in some way is quite simply WRONG!

A poor imitation, what's happened to the old 46% Ardmore? This is a massive downgrade at the same price

A lot of whiskies are going down this route. Non age statement versions of their previous standard bottlings. Means they can pump more out.
You'd think that would mean they were cheaper, but they're often charging the same amount. Scotch has become incredibly popular internationally, particularly anything peated. It's starting to die down a bit now, so you might see some of the prices start to fall again in the next few years.
Not holding my breath for that one though.

I was joking about the coke.
Can't understand why people would buy cheap blended when they can have this for £20.
