You didn't read it then did you? I have a 27" 1440p screen. It's an annoyance rather than a benefit 75% of the time, compared with a 1080p screen.
Your argument that the answer to bad display scaling in windows is to use UWP apps, is a bit pointless. Show me a UWP disk imaging app. SSH client, IRC client that are worth a damn, or tell me how to magically turn all the other software I ACTUALLY WANT TO USE into a UWP app. Game launchers and any windowed games, the menu's on the gimp, or an opensim client, or blender - and pretty much 99% else of what's useful on a PC.
Not to mention the poor ability to put more than one thing on a screen in any useful fashion.
But you don't care, because you probably spend 90% of your time on social media in UWP Edge or IE, and spending £500 on a lame TN panel with a lot of pixels is good justification for just having spent £500 on a graphics card you oh so need for when you fire up the latest CoD or Battlefield you pre-ordered.
This screen was a hot deal. This is hotukdeals. Stop telling people to spend more money because you did and need reassurance.

I use lots of UWP apps, and lots more of them will be made by default now as MS have reached 10 on all devices.
You seem to be very emotional about this. Windows 8 was fine after 8.1.1 (much like Vista was once patched, but was killed by the initial hate) I way prefer modern apps. Its much harder to get malware, and they can be re-installed with ease on a rebuild. But we digress, or rather you were trying to avoid directly addressing the point about resolution.
You can claim what you like at whatever resolution you like. But since I got a 4k screen at 24 inches at work, everyone around me got one for home (1 guy got 27 inches, as he wanted the gaming refresh rates).
You can rant like a child all you like, but you just come off like a kid who cant afford one.
You seem to be very angry and definite in your opinions, and we are all clearly idiots and not worthy of debate with such a lofty expert on display panel technology. Anyway, back to me superior screen I guess.

No need to cry. Obviously when you mention 1080p and sizes of 24" and 27" I think of gaming and watching videos. I guessed you voted cold based on those. Unless you voted cold on something else?

Yeah, because we all use 'Modern Apps' all the damn time - THAT was why windows 8 and metro were so popular!
I call absolute horse dung to you noticing ANY difference in any games higher than 1080 vertical on a 24" screen, and barely any on a 25. And as for the scaling of those modern apps .... you do realise all those extra pixels are just making for a slightly smoother curve on a letter in the text on the minimal interface don't you? Utter waste.
And all that so you can pay more money for a panel that's inferior in every other way! Except ms. Congratulations to the monitor industry for finding a way to upsell cheapo TN panels to the gaming community based on speed. Cracking 20ms on IPS/VA panels, yeah, that was worth it, but 4 vs 1? CMON. Only an idiot says no to a rich velvety accurate colour repro and hello to shadowy leaky colourshifting TN's so their screen can refresh three one thousandths of a second quicker.

Now showing as out of stock... but ebuyer is still displaying the deal and still allowing me to buy...so
even though it is showing out of stock is it reasonable to assume I wouldn't have to wait long?
My R9 270x graphic card has HDMI, DVI-D (dual), DIVI-I (dual) and display port... my lovely 50in LG plasma that I found on HUKD a couple of months ago for £200 is connected to the HDMI... so I guess I'll use the DVI for the monitor? do most monitors have 24 pin DVI female sockets? So would I need a DVI-D (dual) to DVI-D (dual) cable for this monitor?
Any other good suggestions for monitors gratefully recieved. My budget is £150 and I don't give a damn about gaming. I just want the monitor for amateur web design/photoshop/illustrator and general PC work..
Thank you

That's complete horse dung. I am using 4k on a 24inch monitor on Windows 10, and its a-m-a-z-i-n-g
Once you get used to iPad levels of sharpness (ppi), its hard going back to less.
Win10 does a great scaling job, particularly Edge for browsing, and modern (UWP) apps look stonking. As do games at 4k of course.

27" is terrible at 1080p. I have a 25" 1440p monitor at home and don't need any scaling, so you can imagine how bad 27" looks. I wouldn't go more than 24" for 1080p. Cold.

And if you're not already wearing milk bottles, then you will soon. Could't imagine the squinty nightmare of a 25" 1440, it's bad enough on my 27! Display scaling in the windows sphere in general is pretty bad.

Many monitors do come with speakers, there's a large selection on ebuyer itself including many 27 inchers but these are in the £145 plus range. I'm waiting for one of these to come down as a Fire or Android stick will convert the monitor to a perfect TV.
This is however very keenly priced if all you want is a monitor. Heated.

I want to get a screen for regular computer / work use but not required for gaming. However, I would prefer it to double up as a TV with build in DVD player for occasional use. Any suggestions of what would meet my requirements? What would I loose out on if I got a TV to use as a monitor compared to getting a dedicated monitor?
Tei to mubashar
10 Nov 15#20
You would lose out on image quality and increased eye strain in most cases, I would not recommend a tv for regular computer use. However if you went the monitor route you would need separate audio and at minimum a dvd player
