1GB Ram, GPS, Quad core and dual sim 3G, with Bluetooth 4 even. Those are decent features at this end of the market.
I just bought one and I'm already regretting it..... wish I'd bought 2.

Just bought one of these two days ago. Exchange rate tells me £39. Got an email overnight with a photo of my purchase all packaged up and ready to send, confirming shipment as being sent. Will see how long it takes to get to me. Hoping to use as a phone (via earphones and mic) and a retro gaming device on my commute to work.

A dual sim, 7" phone/ 3G Tablet for £30... does it really matter if it's IPS/Retina?

it shows as £37.75 here now, still cheapish, but if they say it's retina desplay it is misleading, a UK retailer would not be allowed to use such terms, if it was guaranteed without extra fees (last time I ordered from outside EU 20% import duty/tax + ca £8 processing fee) then might be tempted to order a phablet from China or if it was a phablet that has hdmi out and runs Windows 10 or maybe that already exists?

Item arrived today , just over 2 weeks for delivery, nicely boxed and works exactly as it should, no problems with wifi, browsing etc, tried a couple of games, DeadTrigger and On The run and they run perfectly fine, linked to an old keyboard i bought for my previous Nexus tab and it works as it should.
For 30 ish quid its a bargain imo, havent tested the phone as im not interested , bought it solely for my guitar ( viewing tabs, vids etc) and generl browsing.
Ill connect it to my Chromecast maybe at some point as a Plex remote.

Paypal is the problem. Why people are obbessed with them and think they are protected mote, is beyond me.
Chargeback is via yojr debitcard for things undet £100 and use a credit card for over £100
Jefft
17 Nov 15#37
Google the problems people have with Gearbest. Paypal sometimes only refunds if you send the item back to China.
leeparsons
15 Nov 15#36
and why do you say that then? You can use chargeback scheme if it doesnt turn up or is broke.
For a meercat your definable simple's.
Jefft
14 Nov 15#35
Gearbest. You may get it you may not. If it's broken you are only likely to get a partial refund.

I may be wrong but I suspect it is because of different exchange rate between gb and paypal

No windows support, sadly.
Darkle
13 Nov 15#31
Same.
Also wild out there question. Since this an Intel Atom Sofia processor, would this phone in theory support a Windows install? I mean copious driver issues aside, this thing would run x86/x64 code right?

you ONLY pay royal mail charges if HMRC require you to pay the import duty.
If you don't 'get caught' by HMRC you won't be charged anything by royal mail.
It's basically an administration fee because you don't pay HMRC directly. Royal mail collect the money, hold the parcel etc.
leeparsons
12 Nov 15#27
So £36 is allot more than the £15 i was told about earlier, going via that link. So you should miss import charges, but might get caught by the po. Why does the po take a cut, when postage has already been added then? Smells like a **** take to me, as it;s already been paid. Typical greed from certain people in our society, and they wonder why people then do the things they do.

thekanester
12 Nov 15#24
No. I've been very lucky. Over 50 orders and nothing lost or customs! I always get cheapo postage. If you get dhl you will get stung.

12 Nov 15#21
Yep, if you get stung you get stung for both - the handling (from the post office) is often more than the duty (from customs & excise).
Crusty
12 Nov 15#20
That's my understanding yes !! The handler, be it parcelforce/UPS/whoever grab their fees for ermmm "handling" and then the package is assessed by them for the relevant import duties/tax applicable. It's just down to luck whether you get caught or not... Going off the parcelforce link the current allowance is £15, anything more valuable can be charged for.

12 Nov 15#19
Hang on, so you get charged by hmrc and the post office then?
You'll be ok, bit worst case you pay 20% which is 6 quid!

does anyone know if this supports agps
I've got a tablet I use with just GPS, and my cars front screen doesn't let the GPS signals through very well
I thought if this has agps, it would help it grab a decent position fix, without too much dependence on proper GPS.
I only drive city to city so I will not need the GPS in the .middle of the forest where there's no mobile signal....
so far its driven me bonkers as it misreports the position and the software constantly tries to reroute me!...
thank you....

I was thinking this, are there any import duties? also does anybody know the sim size thanks
I had the Chuwi Vi7 for a bit, which used the same Sofia processor - although the CPU was clocked at 900Mhz and not the advertised 1200Mhz.
The Antutu score was around 25K, which was okay - a bit faster than a Moto G or something of that ilk. The 3G on the chipset worked fine as well, and I was able to get good download speed.
For this price, this looks very good. I paid slightly more £37 for the Chuwi.
Hot deal!
[Note: There appears to be a bit of confusion whether it uses the C3130 or C3230 CPU]

This one is supposed to be a bit better (plus it runs android 5.1)

Depends who is doing the handling once in the UK .. I've had about 10 £30+ items in the last few years and got stung for one.
http://www.parcelforce.com/parcelforce-worldwide-clearance You would have to look at the HMRC website to see how much duties would be if your parcel was intercepted..
