...and these are very much in the minority, because they're either fiddling by working on the side, or supplementing their income through other, usually illegal means. I live on the edge of a council estate and while I have a decent job and enjoy a comfortable standard of living, I'm surrounded by people on all sides that struggle to make ends meet with benefits.

Yes, some of them are career layabouts that think the World owes them a living, but others have just fallen on hard times and want to work, but can't find jobs. They get sanctioned for the slightest things and are then left to beg from food banks or turn to family & friends just to feed their kids. I'm tired of hearing all this inflammatory crap bandied about by the media and the biased ill-informed. The reality of life having to rely on state handouts is far removed from the sensationalist rubbish you see on the likes of "Benefits Street",

Save your ire for the more deserving, like the MP's flipping their homes, expenses for everything and fat cat jobs as Directors etc in the companies they take bungs off, waiting for them after a short non-career in Politics. Or the bankers. Or the multi-national corporations that have 10th dan black belts in tax dodging.

For £200 it's a brilliant 50" TV, the saying 'you get what you pay for' isn't all negative. Chin up though Pavel, there was no need for you to be a daily fail anti benefit sponsor. I mean, some people are sick and can only afford something like this but you for some reason, had to insult people. wtg man.

So all those carers, cleaners and sundry other minimum wage workers, you know - the people that actually do hard graft while "managers" and other pig-thick white-collar blokes in the trough on 50k+ year look down their nose at them, are all scroungers?

If these people couldn't top up their wages with Tax Credits they could not afford to live. There would be zero incentive to work these demeaning thankless dead-end jobs and they wouldn't get done. Who'd be wiping your elderly dads backside in that care home you bunged him into because you couldn't be bothered yourself? In-work benefit claimants aren't scroungers, sorry.

They're claiming what they are entitled to by Law and even then, still struggle to make ends meet. If you don't like the Law, lobby your MP to get it changed. Or move to Russia, or China. They love people like you there.

Didn't notice the Smart bit earlier...

And: "Made in Turkey" -- for a cheapo TV that's a good thing as it means it's a Vestel -- so at least parts are readily available.

I do wonder how much longer Vestel will remain viable though -- if ISIS expands any further Turkey might not be the easiest place to trade from.

I don't know of many people if any at all who are on benefits i.e dole what ever, but I do know of a few working poor whom in my view are of the same class basically as benefit scroungers I suppose because they claim Tax Credits = basically all our tax payers money help the poor = people who claim tax credits and try to justify it, people who claim tax credits are has bad as benefit cheats in my book.

I bought a 32" Celcus from Sainsburys last Black Friday for my son to use with his Xbox - the picture quiality was good until anything moves - the refresh rate on the TV is absolutely shocking, lots of motion blur to the point where I actually felt guilty for buying it!

No idea if it's similar with other TV's by Celcus or if I was just unlucky - but if you're considering getting one, I'd take a trip to the local Sainsburys and check out the quality if they have one on display (if they don't have the TV turned on then you might know why!)

For anyone considering a "cheap" TV, don't be put off - I bought a Technika slimline TV from Tesco 2 years ago in a Christmas deal and it was £179 (39") - it's been faultless and has a great picture.

The biggest drain on this country is housing benefit claimed by every type of person in the Broke UK. The poor get £500 pm the rich get £2000 per month. Put a max rate on housingbenefit of say £600pm and all rents will drop over night and the megalandlords will also have to drop their rents.
But its easier for the public to stab each other in the back rather thanmake governments accountable for their actions.
Great TV deal by the way !

Heat added . I note the uniquely British obsession with linking the size of ones television to ones social standing - the ignorance that unemployed means you are filthy rich , filling your walls with budget TVs . No television screen made could be any larger than the size of your noses sticking in other people's business. Worlds gone to the dogs when people smugly assume having a better branded tv and looking down on people struggling makes you a superior being . Sad .

Well said - I'm no supporter of those that set out to milk the benefits systems, however I am of the opinion that a lot of the press that plays up benefit fraud is simply trying to divert attention away from the real villains - these being the Bankers that absolutely screwed up the entire country while continuing to line there own pockets! I doubt that a dedicated army of Benefit Scroungers doing their worst for a year could do 1% of the damage to the country which the Bankers have done? - Anyway (gets off his high horse) a 50 inch telly for this price is a cracking deal IMHO.
