This is a great deal that allows you to have 2 nights in Dublin and then 6 nights in Las Vegas, especially as flights are with Virgin Airlines. You will fly with a budget airline to Dublin (or you could use Avios to fly to Dublin cheaply from LHR), where you'll spend 2 nights, then fly from Dublin to Las Vegas (with a short stop in LGW). On the return leg you will fly direct from Las Vegas to London on 26th April, arriving on 27th April early morning. As you then don't depart LGW until the 28th April you will collect your bags, and leave the airport. You can then spend the night in London (or go home) and circumstances may mean you never make your flight back to Dublin on 28th April (wink, wink). Should you know it's unlikely you won't be taking the flight on the 28th April, don't tell the airline.

This is a good way of getting to Vegas in April, currently flights from London for this period are over £500 alone. You don't have to spent 2 nights in Dublin, as there are oodles of flights from LGW to Dublin, you could go a few days before or just 1 day before, it is entirely up to you how long you choose to spend in Dublin. There are lots of dates where these flights work, just have a play around with the multi-stop flight function if you want to change dates.

You'll spend 2 nights in the Belvedere Hotel in Parnell Square in Dublin - an ideal location, where buses frequently run from the airport to the city centre. A great, centrally located hotel to enjoy a couple of days in Dublin.

In Las Vegas you'll spend 6 nights at the Luxor (the price below INCLUDES resort fees as you will see from the screen shots). This is what makes this a great deal as most other deals to Vegas don't include this and it can quickly put £100+ onto the price. Off the strip you can certainly get cheaper but it's up to you if you want to amend the hotel.

**Breakdown**

Ryanair Flight to Dublin £23.99pp on 18th April 2016 (at least 4 different flight times to choose from).

2 nights in Dublin Hotel £83.51 @ www.venere.com

Virgin Flights 416.79Euro/£291.58pp @ www.e-travel.ie

$771.44 USD/£507.06 @ mycheapvegas.com (look for the Facebook exclusive offer)

Total price £1221.71/£610.86pp

Whilst it is unlikley that you will have repercussions that can not be guaranteed you have agreed to abide by the terms and conditions of the ticket that you have bought that agrees that you will take the final leg of your journey which is back to Ireland. The airlines hate people doing this as they price Ireland departures differently to those from London by using this method which is known as a hidden city ticket you can make savings of 50%. There is a lot of discussion on this at various sites on the web and what the arline can and may do this could include charging your credit card the cost of the flight if your flight returned only to London, though this is unlikely. They could cancel any flyer points that you have and they could even sue you for breaking their T&C's these are unlikely but possible. In the US airlines have banned people from travelling with them for doing this.

The most common problem people have is when they want their luggage to not continue on the last leg (short checking) as the OP says if you have 24 hours between flights they will give your luggage and the other way round it is to fly in to say Heathrow and out of Gatwick as there is no luggage transit between the airports or take only hand luggage. Of course if there is a problem and the flight from LAS to LGW cancelled then they may fly you back to Dublin via another route via say Frankfurt or Paris then you are stuck.

I am not saying you wont pull it off but you have to be aware that whilst the savings are great that it is not without risk (however small) and that you are breaching the terms and conditions of your ticket, that said I would do this in a heartbeat but I would need to save at least £500 to make it worth the risk and the hassle for me.

No doubt I will get some incoming on this as it is not what people want to hear but I have put quite a lot of research into this and flying economy I decided that it was not worth the risk or the trouble of having to go to Dublin however nice it is when that is not where I really want to go.

Good points raised. To add, I've been ditching the final leg of flights for years with a variety of Airlines and points have always been credited for the flights taken and never had problems. I've done it with just a few hours too and just asked for my luggage back although I'd not recommend this SAS got a bit funny but in the end let us have our bags in CPH instead of going all the way to Stockholm which let us exit there.

I've never had card charges for exiting early

I agree that you can do it and save money and 99% of the time you have been able to have no problems I just want to make people aware of this and most importantly that you are breaking the T&C's of the ticket that you buy as some people may not want to do this.

BA in particular are coming down on this and many people are now having problems with short checking luggage but not as you say if you have 24 hours or you go in and out of a different airport. There are instances of people having points removed but as yet I have not seen anyone charged the full fare though some people coming back from Florida have been told that they either pay the full fare or their luggage goes to Dublin.

Of course the other option is to return to Dublin have an EasyJet flight home for £25 then you are breaking no rules and there is no risk.

Absolutely and for people like me in the North West I actually wouldn't have the stop over in London, I'd go back to Dublin and get a flight back to Liverpool or Manchester as it's far easier than trying to get home from London - and cheaper!

This is very expensive as have to pay for extra luggage on ryanair flight I have just booked orlando and vegas for under £400

Luggage is £15 with Ryanair. Even with return flights to Dublin and luggage the flight is still well under £400 so I don't see how this is very expensive. Flights to Vegas from the UK in April (which I think is a lovely time to go to Vegas) are significantly more. If you want to go Feb time (which isn't the best time to go to Vegas IMO)you can get flights from UK for under £300 (with two stops each way), rubbish flight times and 22hrs each flying time.

The flight prices are great for April, whilst i would not stay at the Luxor as i have a friend who lives in Vegas its a great base and as Rachel said if your from the North like me, its easy to get a flight from Leeds, Manchester, Liverpool over to Dublin. For the length of time your going its not like you would need 10 cases each.

I agree they could do all of the things you mention regarding points etc, they don't though. Millions, literally, Rachel and myself included have been ditching flights for years and my points have never been affected. You would have to be very, very unlucky to be singled out. The airlines are well aware it goes on and have been the whole time. If you are really worried about bags, just do as Rachel points out and leave a large gap in-between your flights and there is no issue in collecting them where you want.

Great deal Rachel

Thanks OP. Just booked DUB-LAX/SFO-DUB for under £350 in May. Virgin are asking nearly £850 for the same flights without the Dubllin legs.

Yeah this Dublin departure will save me a pretty penny when I travel to the states. Taxes for long haul flights In this country are crazy.
sew1091 to drago773
18 Nov 15 #19
Its not the taxes that make up most of the differences UK ADT is £71 on long haul and you will have paid whatever it is for short haul to get to Dublin from the UK. Its market pricing that makes the prices so differnet

Hi, we've booked similar flights in april for our honeymoon (unfortunately I'm a teacher and the only way we could book during the holidays was to go via Dublin). Never done this before, always gone direct. We have 1hr 40 in the airport at gatwick before heading back to dublin on a different flight, I'm assuming this is too short to tell anyone we want our baggage so we'll have to take hand baggage only? Also do we have to say anything about missing the dublin flight when we get to gatwick or do we just leave? I wouldn't want to cause any other travellers delays by us not turning up to our flight (not sure how this works!) Many thanks!!!
