he Worsley Arms Hotel is a 19th-century property in the village of Hovingham, set in the Howardian Hills in the Ryedale District of North Yorkshire. The village has been home to the Worsley family since 1563 and has a shop, a café, a pub, a bakery and a monthly village market (the next ones are 7 November; 5, 19 December). The hotel has a homely feel, with sofas, a log fire and a large garden to explore.
Guests can eat from the à la carte menu in either the hotel's main restaurant or the Cricketers Bar, and you can choose your wine from their own wine cellar. Produce is locally sourced, including the game and venison from the Hovingham Estate and the lamb from the local village of Coulton. The bar also serves lighter meals.
National Trust property Nunnington Hall is a 5-minute drive from the hotel and the small market town of Thirsk is 30 minutes away. Author James Herriot, writer of All Creatures Great and Small, lived here. You can learn about his life at the World of James Herriot Visitor Attraction.

Been there a couple of times in the cottages across from the main building. The rooms are comfy, if a little basic, but the welcome and the food is amazing. Worth it for that alone.
