Currently Morrisons have some decent prices on Vegetables, bought some earlier (Sunday dinner sorted) and decent quality also. Cheaper than most of the other stores.
Did you watch the Hugh thingy where he interviewed Morrison's. The two guys representing Morrison's genuinely didn't care that a family producing parsnips for 30 years had been put out of business, in fact they looked pretty smug throughout the entire interview

Not quite true.
The reasons veg growers dont last is because modern mothers dont like vegetables unless they are all a regular size & in tip-top condition meaning that producers lose & are forced to destroy the less good looking veg.
I buy class 2 veg which is far cheaper than class 1 but looks & tastes no different once cooked.
Most shoppers avoid anything that does not fit in with the look of photographs created in a studio.

It worries me how they can sell these vegetables so cheaply
The only losers in this are the growers who get squeezed to lower their prices and eventually lose their livelihood

And Supermarkets reject one third of all British food grown ! Hugh's War on Waste on BBC 1 recently highlighted this! Your local Asian shop sells locally produced veg well maybe in the next county or two! But you get far more wonky veg and it tastes better too.

Yes I did.
It has been that way for years. I remember we used to tat in supermarket skips & they were often full with all manner of fruit & veg & there was nothing wrong with it & it fed us very well for years for nothing.

Since watching Hugh on TV I have decided not to buy any veg again from the big supermarkets ! Only from Asian shops and markets!

not sure if a troll but I'll bite - why do you assume an Asian market is always going to be better?

Asda carrots are 57p and if you are staff you get 20% off.asda fruit and veg is better than Morrison's.

Not a fair comparrision. Why do people on this site always try to make out things are cheaper elsewhere even if they are not? Just checked and Asda carrots are 57p making them more expensive 46p even to staff which not evryone is. Quality wise I find it varies day to day, week to week at all supermarkets

When I see these veg deals I buy as much as my freezer will hold blanch them, cool them and put them in individual portion size bags and freeze them. May be not quite as good as fresh veg but better than the ones you buy frozen and very convenient.

Everyone who has voted this hot obviously hasn't seen Hughs War on waste. They pay their suppliers (or farmers) next to nothing and reject so much food that they barely make a living.... The Hammonds in Norfolk went out of business because of them.
Don't buy their veg

Question as I work in produce.
If you had a choice to pay a premium in veg that promotes itself as British and good for farmers, would you?
I ask this because Morrisons have done something similar for Milk where it gives shoppers to pay a bit extra to support farmers

Clearly you are trying to be awkward so why did you say this -
modern mothers dont like vegetables unless they are all a regular size & in tip-top condition
Why mention mothers ? Do you stand around in supermarkets asking female customers if they have children when they are buying veg.

I think you have failed by the way you have clearly avoided what I'm asking,if you are as smart as you are trying to make out then you would have understood what I'm asking.
Clearly you've got issues to say what you did and think you are special by saying I will fail.
Anyone who takes notice of what class veg they buy is probably a class 1 bell end

Check your receipt if buying any of these. In my local Morrison's the shelf price is lower than the pack price but you get charged the pack price (ie the higher price) at the till. For example broccoli has 43p on the big sign on the shelf but had 50p on the wrapper label.

i was going to say that you're missing the point but in your case i think you've missed the whole universe
Opening post
Carrots 1kg 45p
Saver Carrots 1Kg 39p
Savoy Cabbage 50p
Brown Onions 1kg 55p
Broccoli 335g 42p
Sweetheart Cabbage 50p
