They do have a thermostat. The tendancy is to turn the thermostat up high if you want instant heat, which they do not give. If you want to heat a small room or go on holiday or heat a conservatory or loo they are ideal long term left on.
Convectors are far better and quicker at heating a room. However left on long term they make your throat dry which oil does not.
Although you are not supposed to oil can be useful for drying towels, etc Just dont lay the towels over the holes at the side or it will cause the heater to go pop and you will be left with defunct heater.

If ops is the same model as in post 4 link then I have one and a tenner is a bargain. On a high heat setting the fins are too hot to touch. Oil rads would not be my choice for heating a room you are using all the time. More like a bathroom , conservatory or anywhere you dont want the pipes to freeze.

Im in a very small rented flat payed for by the council, no heating. This should be able to heat the room up. Cos its as cold inside as outside.

55kw should heat a pretty decently sized room - should do an entire house well enough, actually

1.1kw might be enough to keep the chill of in a night or heat a well insulated smaller room if given enough time to warm up.
Of course, gas heating is much cheaper generally, if you've got it.
