This went hot last week at £9.66 from Banggood, but by the time I decided to order it had gone back up to ~£13.
£9.40 delivered here from GearBest. Paypal accepted, and much quicker. Also I know some on here don't like giving their card details to these Eastern websites.
Used one for months until I woke up without it a few months ago after a dispute with the doorstaff in town. Be careful with the rubber straps, replacements are only a few quid and after several months use the tracker can pop out occasionally.
Android users, make sure to install the modified app rather than the Play Store app. Allows you to get custom notiifcations on your wrist from all apps, among other things.
I see your game here, expire mine and post your own! ;)

how is the paid app for the band? does the dev give regular updates to it? has it lots more functionality than the official Mi App?

It allows you more notification and to be able to control the colour of them if you have the coloured band.
Also more alarm controls and idle alerts. It does quite different things than the official app really. It's for customising, not tracking.
It has been updated two or three times in the month I have been using it I think.
For the record, it looks like you can't erase data on the band. You can set up a new mi band account and sync the empty account with the band. That has a similar effect.

for the alarms to work via the Mi app, does the BT have to be on? Monday evening went to sleep by setting the alarms but switched BT off and didn't feel the band vibrate. night just gone, left BT on and band vibrated at alarm times. Just wanted some confirmation that's all.

I think when it's set, you're supposed to not need the phone then.
Simple enough to test, set it for a few times when you are awake, then turn Bluetooth off  see how reliable it is.

Alarms only work when connected to the phone via Bluetooth.
The exception is "early bird" alarms, they're stored in the bands memory and should go off without a device connected.

Yeah, thanks anyway, googled it for the hundredth time. Seems an update a few weeks back to the Android app finally added this functionality. Google and MFP had been calling each other partners for at least six months, glad it's finally materialised.

Assuming you have Google Fit set up...
Opening Myfitnesspal. Look in the menu for 'Steps'. In steps, it will probably have 'Don't track steps' ticked. You want to change this and tick 'Android. Your Android can sync steps with MyFitnessPal via Google Fit'. Allow it permission if it asks.
Then back in the main menu, in 'Apps an Devices', scroll right to the very bottom. You should see Google Fit. If you tap it, it should say connected. If it isn't, connect it.
Then it should import steps from Google Fit. Should, can't promise it will work
Mine just asked for permission again when I opened MFP. Then I looked in Steps and it had disconnected itself. Reconnected it but not hopeful.

14 Dec 15#118
Nope, should be fine if you leave you phone somewhere else, as long as it's not for weeks on end
Google fit integration works well, for the most part. The steps import correctly. The calories burnt I am very suss about. I am keeping an eye on the developer community, it all seems very unfinished.
Myfitnesspal integration (you link Google Fit to MFP to get the miband data into MFP) however is not good at all. It only worked for one day and imported steps as calories burnt! Now it doesn't import anything. I think these apps and the links between them are still very much a work in progress.
I will keep you posted

Mine said 1h 30 for the first day or two, now I seem to be averaging about 2h 30. A lot of people are complaining the sleep tracking algorithm has changed in the last update and isn't as accurate. They were claiming to get 3h 30+ before. Sounds a bit unrealistic to my mind, but I don't know. I'm not entirely sure how it works.

Same  Glad yours is working btw. I wonder what the issue was.
Give you a lot more control over notifications and alarms and stuff. I believe the on the XDA forums does similar for free, but this was hassle free to set up. It's updated frequently and the developer hangs on on the miband reddit.

Got one of these - great device
step / pedometer is pretty accurate and it does not count "steps" when you are typing / driving like some other more expensive devices
and the sleep tracker turns on automatically and again is surprisingly accurate
the revised Notify app is great if you want your phone on silent in an office environment
the charge lasts ages - easily over one month and it is really waterproof - been swimming and in the shower with mine !
and it is very discrete - not like some of the "in your face" high end activity bands
as for being fake - just check YouTube for vids how to tell the difference
Price delivered to UK from China warehouse is showing at US$14.29 which by xe.com is £9.24

Thanks very much for the information, I haven't been able to find any reviews that compare the i5 to the miband specifically. I did read on the XDA forums that people had similar trouble to you with step counting. That it counted steps properly when running, but not when walking.
Can I ask how you found the display? Does the swiping part work well? Did it display notifications properly? That's the part that tempts me really.
They seem to have basically the same features otherwise, but the miband sounds like it might work better for those features. The i5 seems to work as a camera remote, but the miband has the phone unlock thing, which is probably much more useful. It also seems to have more intelligent sleep tracker.

I think goal checking colour, is the colour your band goes, when you do the progress checking gesture? So if you keep your arm down by your side, them quickly move it upwards like you are reading the time from a watch and keep it there, the lights will flash on to tell you how close to your walking goal you are that day.
I'm getting notifications with no lights now. Going to have to reset it all, but that's a job for tomorrow I think

22 Nov 15#104
I've had a look through all the settings in the Mi Band Tools app and the only thing I think it could be is "goal checking color" whatever that is lol. It's the only other thing that set to blink red apart from calls.

Yeah I don't think it's that. I'm sure it flashed red and done it at around the same time this afternoon as it did yesterday. 22 Nov 15#101
The idle thing makes the band vibrate once an hour if you haven't taken any steps, to remind you to keep moving. It pops up a notification on your phone too in the tray, so you would probably notice it if it was though.
Arise
22 Nov 15#100
Tbh I've not paid a massive amount of notice because I've been off all weekend and my phone has never been on silent so I've not had to look at the band to see what's flashing.
On a whole the app seems ok to me although I didn't think the alarm was as simple as it could have been.
What do the idle settings do ?

22 Nov 15#99
I'm finding that app from the android store a little bit hit or miss so far. Only had it a day but the notifications aren't working quite as expected 100% of the time. Sometimes they vibrate with no lights coming on. It had a big update yesterday, not sure if that has anything to do with it:

20 Nov 151#93
The lights on mine go off when it isn't charging too. The only time they come on is if I get a notification, or if I use the gesture to show progress.
Just a thought.. your phone doesn't use bluetooth v3 does it? Read about some people using a modified app because their phones use 3 and the band is 4.
Only other thing I could think of to try is testing it with another phone if that is possible.

On the one with white LEDs, they go out when fully charged. I could only get it to connect with Bluetooth through the Miband app (official). The hacked XDA one won't work with it.

To set it up you just need to charge it and download the app which you can get from scanning the QR code in the manual.

I've been reading more about it and I don't think it does connect with Google Fit. I can't find any reference to it online. It used an app called Zeroner on your phone, which looks like it had 2.5 stars on the Play store. I think it's been removed and re-added, possibly to dodge bad reviews.
I've just read through an entire thread about it on the XDA forums, I think it may require more tinkering time than I am prepared to put into it.
I noticed when people use it in videos, it's never on their arm. I think that is because to read it you have to put your arm in quite an uncomfortable position. You can change the orientation of the screen, but it means updating it with Chinese language firmware, it just sound like pure hassle.
These are the best two videos I could find of it in use, but they don't mention any of the problems.
It bothers my slight than neither of them will connect to myfitnesspal. I'm not sure how useful either of them will be to me if calories burnt and calories eaten aren't taken into consideration.
Is there a Google version or something like myfitnesspal that will keep track of calories?
Off to read the miband thread next

I mean a budget brand - as in, if this is a cheaper brand's version of a Fitbit Charge, is there a cheap brand that does a budget version of a Fitbit Charge HR? I'm not expecting to find one for a tenner but I can't seem to find one at all - I've only seen cheap chest strap HR monitors or things that are closer to smart watches than wristbands. I would highly doubt the accuracy whilst playing football. There's a lot of complex movements that a simple pedometer isn't going to be able to decipher.
It would be an interesting experiment to run, say, 2 laps of a running track and measure the number of steps. Then do it with a football, and try and simulate your movements during a game.
I would expect the figures to be wildly different yet you would have covered the same ground.
I could be wrong though.

also monitor your sleep quality so you can determine what effects your sleep quality !

It shows as £13.15 for me. Am I doing something wrong?

Be careful with cheap replacement bands for these. I had one and the rubber was too soft. It kept coming undone and the tracker could pop out easily. No problem with the original band that you get with it

be careful with expensive bands to.
I paid £80 for a fitbit charge & after just 3 months the rubber was just pealing off! Fitbit replaced it for free but I just sold it on & bought a cheap tracker which has replaceable bands

did you eventually get a good rubber band? As I am looking for a band, but all I have seen have mixed reviews

Occasionally would pop out of original band for me, usually while rummaging in a bag or similar so was fine. Got an unofficial leather band now and it's very secure.

I see your game here, expire mine and post your own! ;)
You say 'This went hot last week at £9.66 from Banggood, but by the time I decided to order it had gone back up to ~£13.' - It never went up, had you read the first paragraph of the OP it was clear what you needed to do? Even highlighted for you:
***If you do not see the band please do not hit expire, go to full site select China and the right hand band in the colour selection and still same price!***

Simple enough to test, set it for a few times when you are awake, then turn Bluetooth off  see how reliable it is.
The exception is "early bird" alarms, they're stored in the bands memory and should go off without a device connected.
I will keep you posted
yeah, let me know when you learn how to wipe the data both from the band and the app. my OH has got her eye on mine so im thinking of upgrading and giving her mine...
keep me posted MSK <3
Though its abit worrying im only getting 1h 30 mins of deep sleep. Not sure how accurate that is.
I do need to work out how to wipe it though! Haven't figured that out. Going to give it to my Mum when my 1S comes.

Give you a lot more control over notifications and alarms and stuff. I believe the on the XDA forums does similar for free, but this was hassle free to set up. It's updated frequently and the developer hangs on on the miband reddit.
step / pedometer is pretty accurate and it does not count "steps" when you are typing / driving like some other more expensive devices
and the sleep tracker turns on automatically and again is surprisingly accurate
the revised Notify app is great if you want your phone on silent in an office environment
the charge lasts ages - easily over one month and it is really waterproof - been swimming and in the shower with mine !
and it is very discrete - not like some of the "in your face" high end activity bands
as for being fake - just check YouTube for vids how to tell the difference
Price delivered to UK from China warehouse is showing at US$14.29 which by xe.com is £9.24

I'm getting notifications with no lights now. Going to have to reset it all, but that's a job for tomorrow I think
On a whole the app seems ok to me although I didn't think the alarm was as simple as it could have been.
What do the idle settings do ?
https://www.reddit.com/r/miband/comments/3tpojd/android_release_mi_band_tools_v131/
So many settings. Need to spend a bit more time playing with it.
You haven't got the idle warnings set have you?
Just a thought.. your phone doesn't use bluetooth v3 does it? Read about some people using a modified app because their phones use 3 and the band is 4.
Only other thing I could think of to try is testing it with another phone if that is possible.
Smart unlock in Android will not work with it either for some reason - which is one of the main reasons why I bought it.
MSK are your LED lights constantly on? Or does it go off? Mine flashes when charging but then goes off.
There's no secret button on the device is there for the Bluetooth to pick it up?
I'm clutching at straws now
Logging into the app was the hardest part for me. I think it might have taken a minute or two to connect it, but it did it by itself. I didn't even have bluetooth turned on, the app turned that on.
I've set up a account, switched my phones Bluetooth but it just won't read band.
Strange
any other advice is appreciated too.
To set it up you just need to charge it and download the app which you can get from scanning the QR code in the manual.
I had problems registering an account through the app. I went here to sign up instead:
https://account.xiaomi.com/pass/register
Then used those details to log in. It holds you hand through the rest of the set up process, it was really easy.
If you want to mess around with notifications and changing LED colours, you need to play with the apps in the links in the post above yours.
Not convinced it i counting step correctly. Still trying to work out how quickly it update the count. Walking outside it's logging steps, not sure it's logging steps walked around the house properly.
Haven't work out the phone unlock thing yet.
Haven't played around with the LED colour changing apps yet.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/accessories/tweaked-mi-band-english-version-notify-t3024425
and
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools&hl=en_GB
Unfortunately I'm still not convinced it isn't faulty, the battery is supposedly draining at 10%+ per day, and the app can't connect to the band fairly often.
In their e-mail they sent about my order. 25 business days would be 5 weeks.
It wouldn't surprise me if it takes a month, coming from China. They quote 7 - 25 days for some of their shipping services and 25 - 50 for others! I am not sure which service they have used:
http://www.gearbest.com/about/shipping-methods.html
Is it the new bands that have the white LEDs then? I asked gearbest which colour this one has a week ago and they still haven't replied :/ I am assuming they are coloured if they are in the video.

also how to spot a fake ....
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVZjI7j5WKU
the box bit is not strictly true as the box for mine is the smaller one but the label is like the fake - but mine was purchased in China - not shipped to the UK from China

These are the best two videos I could find of it in use, but they don't mention any of the problems.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oT-vMl_Piq0 and i5 vs Fitbit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9VN0FkmuLw
It would be an interesting experiment to run, say, 2 laps of a running track and measure the number of steps. Then do it with a football, and try and simulate your movements during a game.
I would expect the figures to be wildly different yet you would have covered the same ground.
I could be wrong though.
have made checks and it does not count "steps" when typing / driving etc and is quite accurate with distance walked / run too
EliTom
just pay by PayPal and then when it arrives look for vids on YouTube - I am sutre there is a vid there about how to spot a fake .... can't check now as I am at work and YT is blocked !

It's really a very short clip at the end. She doesn't ask him anything else, or anything about the company. Which was disappointing, but the programme is about Chinese politics.
Depends what you mean by budget. This one seems to be the cheapest:
http://www.gearbest.com/smart-watches/pp_131979.html
Not really comparable in price, but quite different.
Still can't make up my mind between the miband and this http://www.gearbest.com/smart-wristband/pp_180798.html *sigh*

I want the genuine one and I've heard there's a lot of fakes going around, especially on Amazon.
