These great little speakers are on a special offer again at Richer Sounds and also come with a 6 year warranty.
Here are the details:-
Speaker legends don't get much bigger than the Wharfedale Diamond 9.0.
It's hard to believe that the original Wharfedale Diamond is now past its thirtieth birthday. All those decades ago, it was the Diamond speaker that proved, for the first time, that excellent quality sound could be achieved from a small, budget speaker. Since then there have been dozens of imitators, but the Diamonds remain amongst the best available.
The cabinet isn't just compact, it's also very solid. This combination gives the Diamonds an extremely accurate sound quality as the cabinet doesn't flex or vibrate like larger, less well made speakers. Equally impressive are the drive units. A soft dome tweeter gives the clarity and smoothness of sound you'd expect from a much more expensive speaker whilst the woofer cone uses a carbon fibre type weave to offer extremely taut and responsive bass. With a front port, these bass reflex speakers are punchier than you might expect and in no way could they ever be described as tinny. Over all, they may be small but the sound is grown-up, with excellent staging, realism and surprisingly powerful.
It's not just the major aspects of the design that Wharfedale have got right, it's the details, too. Proper 4mm banana sockets will accept thick cable and offer the best type of connection. Threaded sockets at the rear make for secure and easy bracket attachment.
At £100 these speakers were clearly market leaders. Now we're offering them at this bargain price, the Diamond 9.0 speakers are a gem of a deal!

Don't waste your money on a soundbar because they are very over rated.
I bought a mid / top of the range Yamaha soundbar and in true honesty it sounded rubbish.
I am now using a set of Creative Gigaworks T40 speakers costing about £80 on my tv and believe me they wipe the floor with any soundbar I've ever heard.

Picked up a similar set of speakers from Argos a few years back. Hooked it up to my TV via a cheap 2020A+ amplifier. Cost me £35 in total, and sounds fantastic.

The Creative T40's have a built in amp and they simply plug into your tvs headphone socket.
This also has the advantage of being able to control the volume by the tvs remote control.
Check out the reviews on Amazon with many people commenting on the T40's ability to make the tv sound superb.
Obviously not a substitute for a proper 5.1 surround sound system but a massive improvement on the inbuilt speakers and indeed a sound bar costing a lot more.

I have the Diamond 9.1 speakers at the minute and I'm considering these to use them for surround. These obviously aren't going to have the depth, power and frequency response of their bigger brother but for a smaller room or like I'm considering rear speakers that's a great price.
Build quality is excellent and the woofer is kevlar weave.
Regardless of the blurb these aren't £100 speakers, you can get the 9.1's for that price. But £40 is a great price for the quality.

Hmm.. the Creative's do sound nice.. I'm currently contemplating getting a soundbar with a separate subwoofer (as I don't really have room for anything else).. so it's either that... or the Creative T40's...

Depends on what you willing to pay, not all soundbars are equal and not all external TV speakers are soundbars - I have a Sony HT-XT3 soundbase under my TV and that will put many amps and speakers to shame, however it's RRP is £450 and street price rarely less than £380.

For those wanting to connect these to a tv - may want to consider buying a used or new av receiver. Silly price for a pair of decent bookshelf speakers. You could buy a set of floor stands to place either side of tv or chimney breast.

cracking pair of speakers that punch well above their weight in terms of detail/timing and dear I say bass levels for such small speakers...worth every single penny...RicherSounds have hit the right note with these speakers and for just £39.95 they should be music to everyone's ears.

60 Hz means no really deep bass (but bass reflex is present which fixes a bit this) and looks like it's the weakest element. Otherwise - good (power: very good) parameters.

For people asking about amps, if you're on a tight budget I have a few recommendations:
Agreed. It also depends on your expectations and the size/shape of your room.
I've had a Yamaha YAS-101 soundbar connected to my TV via optical for three years now and while it wasn't cheap at the time, it's a seriously decent bit of kit and sounds great. Ditched my Kef speakers due to size, WAF, and having a separate amp (not receiver), where the soundbar has learned the TV/Sky infrared controls.
The soundbar also decodes DTS, which is handy for people on Plex et al that might not have a Smart TV capable.
Either way - these are good speakers for the money. I used to have a brilliant pair of Wharfedale Diamond 9.5 floor-standers and miss them terribly (gave them to a friend - error!). You'd do a hell of a lot worse than these for £40 that's for sure.

are these worth the standard £60 price? cant go to a store as its too far away unfortunately. looking to get a cheap amp off amazon to go with these just to use for my pc.
my current setup is terrible, the speakers refuse to work at times and i can hear a buzzing sound. lasted like 10 years mind.
I have two sets of these in my 7.1 setup as mid and rear surround and they were excellent value at £100 a set so these are a bargain
