Strangely enough, how the poster was going to write up this deal on here probably wasn't top of his thoughts. Normally it's "wow, what a deal, lets buy this", before getting home and going "I'm going to share this".
It's not as if the first member of staff you come across is going to be able to answer that question anyway.
Well done OP, thank you for sharing even if it's store specific (as you were nice enough to post the store). Ignore the complaints just because it isn't a national deal, as that's hardly your fault.

Show some respect, they found a decent price and made an effort to post it its not up to them to check whether it's local or national! It's not like you've contributed much with your single deal posted in nearly 6 years yet you have the cheek to criticise others.

How many people are going to run out to Asda stores now and will not find this, but will buy a lot of other stuff they might otherwise have bought elsewhere are Asda and Tescos playing us for fools. So many deals used to be national now they are getting as much publicity and deal hunters turned customer with just isolated store specific deals. Are they turning the tables on us bargain hunters I think so.Great deal thanks for posting.

Bishop Auckland ASDA had the SEL saying £34 but sold out however I did manage to get a 1TB Seagate Expansion Portable Hard Drive for £24 and looked like it was the last one. Bought it on Thursday, store are now displaying out of stock labels for both when I was in on Saturday.
jordanc93
25 Oct 152#59
No memeber of staff is going to be able to confirm if it is a national deal unless they have recieved specific promotion information from head office. ASDA's stock system called SMART can't even tell them the price being charged at other stores, it can only tell them the current price as set by head office. If not all stores are scanning at £34 then it is probably the case that the manager of that specific store has chosen to change the price on the SMART system for his store via the scanner gun which also gives them a recommended price for the reduction, such a change only effects that store.
edward2910
25 Oct 152#61
I agree with you completely. I can't be bothered with all of the sarcastic and critical comments here. If you see a deal posted and it's not for you, just ignore it. If you see a deal and think it's not a deal, vote cold. But don't have a go at a poster for sharing the information that they found out. Anyway, asking a sales assistant in Asda if a deal is national is pointless. They won't know.

To be fair - if it's anything like our local Asda (Dundonald) the chances of finding a member of staff that would have an idea if it was local or national are very close to zero. If people are good enough to post then thank them and don't give them grief for not spending half a day trying to find an Asda staff member who knows what national even means

paul.jacobs to pjgreene75
25 Oct 15#76
If you read Amazon reviews for any portable hard drive, they all fail. None are perfect, which is why I always back up with two hard drives, with the same data. Plus any really important data is also put on a USB and filed away. Triple back ups! I once had a computer hard drive fail, as most of my data was backed up, nothing of importance was lost. As for flash memory, I had a compact flash camera memory card fail to format recently. No single data storage device should be used for anything important.
