PCWorld/Currys are one useless bag of scheisse. Went round to collect my reserved drive, the staff wandered this way and that for 15 minutes and then said they couldn't find it.
Aren't these clowns supposed to print out the reservation, find the item, put it behind the counter for the customer to collect? And if the lazy staff did what they are paid for, they would have realised they didn't have it in stock and could ring me to tell me, so I wouldn't waste my evening. I hope these guys go the way of Comet.

Presumably if you take it out of it's case then you lose the 5 year warranty? It's a pity that there are no cheapish internal drives of this type of size with 5 year warranties. Unless I missed them.

No point in taking it out the case as it uses a straight to USB 3.0 PCB. No sata involved.
I think both - registering my drive on the WD site showed 1800 days and PC World returns FAQ says that if it still under warranty they'll offer a repair or replacement.
Indeed, I use these on MacBookPro, just go to Disk Utility* and from there select the drive itself, go to 'partition', select 1 new partition (don't need multiple partitions, stupid idea, those days are over) and select OS X Extended (Journaled)** and where there's an options button, choose GUID partition table. Go ahead, do the new partition. Then check if you had the correct disk selected. Or if you prefer, check first, then obliterate everything on the WD disk by laying a new partition onto it. Actually, the second way round might be better — check you’re doing it to the correct disk. Then do it.
* Disk Utility, do a three-finger and thumb inward swipe to get launchpad and type Disk to find it. Or click on Launchpad and type Disk. Or press command+spacebar to get Spotlight search and begin to type Disk Utility to find it. Or if all else fails go into Applications and into Utilities and there it is.
** don't use OS X Extended (Case-sensitive, Journaled) — it's for special purposes rather than normal use, and will cause unwanted compatibility problems with some data transfers and no advantages whatsoever if your drive is set that way.
Fed up of these super hot deals of a drive a couple of quid cheaper but with a year warranty.
All drives can die, with these you can get another one if it happens before 2020. And if it doesn't die then you get your money's worth for sure!

seem a good price. Will this work with a Macbook Pro?

Yes, the HDD can be re-formatted for Mac - but the included WD SmartWare software is not available for Mac computers.
