Figure I used to have a no.1 ( stop it :smile: ) every 2 weeks when using a barber @ £10 a pop that works out at a saving of £4250 over that time .

I got some Wahl clippers from Amazon. The Mrs now cuts my hair, she was a total newbie to haircuts, but with my expert guidance (having watched barbers do it for years) it's pretty much identical. At present my hair cuts are working out at <£2 a cut and dropping with each one :-)

N.b. You've got to trust your Mrs for this to work!

I've been using Wahl clippers for years .... I have less and less hair each year but still save myself a trip to the barbers and some time getting there, parking etc

Just use them in the kitchen and sweep up the hair! Easy!

If you have short hair then you should get some... Start with the longest grade and work down

Makes you wonder doesn't it... what's real trust in a relationship? Sex? Nah.. people do that on first dates. Your partner taking a turd whilst you're in the bath? Possibly (it's a bit grim though!)..... a hair cut though... now that's something you've got to have total trust about! :-)

I've been shaving my own hair for a few years now. So far I've used two Phillips sets of clippers and one Wahl. All have been budget ones from Argos. Wasn't keen on the Wahl though, which admittedly was the cheapest of the three and looked a bit like the one in this deal.

The Phillips ones were much lighter and as a result a lot more manoeuvrable in action. The Wahl was rather heavy in comparison and couldn't be battery charged for cordless use unlike the Phillips which made a huge difference.

If you're serious about cutting your hair at home then I would advise spending about another twenty quid on something a bit lighter and portable.

For those who don't trust themselves or their significant other, there's a place near me in Sheffield called Easy Barber, considering the time and effort, and the fact they charge £4 and are consistently good (much better than the more expensive places I tried), I'm probably going to stick with them. It's under £40 a year for me and I'm in and out in 15 mins.

I've had to do my own hair before but it involves tapering, and it's still a faff with all the mirrors...

Have used one for years as I noticed a barber I went to basically did a Number 2 round the sides and about a number 4 on top, I now just have a number all over when it looks a little long round the sides. Cost about £10, think we're on our second set, must have saved a fortune and also the time messing around in a barbers.

What I was told before from a hairdresser was consumer models to stop people getting little cuts after a while need to be adjusted with that screw at side and the blades on top need cleaned etc.

The ones the hairdressers use cost a few hundred quid each but dont need to be adjusted.

I normally use thse things to thin body hair rather than my head, great for that apart from the little cuts.

Wahl have a few different factories these days I understand. They offer cheaper ones like these that are made in China while they still sell the original USA made units which are the superior quality.
