Hi has anyone had curling problems with manual screens round the bottom edges. I hear Optoma suffer bad with it which has put me off buying one. Was planning to get a fixed frame one. Any advise would be appreciated.

Just received a cancellation notice for my order! Anyone else in the same boat?

Ironically I tried to cancel my order but they said it was too late - still on it's way to me.

90" is too small for the optoma Hd141xe.
Mine is 100 inches.

Depends on distance, and you can use the zoom controls as needed (on projector and menu)
I have a 141x

I have this projector and can't fault it..but make sure you do the calculation for projection distance as this projector is short throw with no vertical image shift. Also make sure you read manual and run projector on optimal lamp life setting default configuration is high contrast (can't recall exact name) setting which kills the lamp very fast.

great price, I just painted the wall (off white) and it does the job I need for my BenQ 3d projector.

Yep, I had an off white wall too for my w1070 but since we have moved some furniture around I need to be able to extend a screen from the ceiling in front of the TV which is now sitting in front of my projector walI. At this price I think it's OK for the job!

you should of looked on avforums for proper home cinema setups a dark matte colour is best for a projector.
in fact to do it right the whole room should be customised to suit a projector. that is why i will probably never own a projector. too much of a enthusiast and it has to be done right or not at all.
the reason why i still own a panny plasma.

I did the same when I remodelled my living room, couldn't make it a bat cave but movie night is great with lights off and blinds closed. My screen set up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWBeY5-TM9s

I bought a 90" pull up projector screen as living in rental property- the picture looks great on it. In the Summer carted it into the garden and watched films outside on a few evenings.
The good thing with a pull-up (tripod supported) screen is I am able to adjust the vertical height quite easily- so that when watching freeview/16:9 content the whole screen area is filled.
If I put on a Blu Ray or stream a film that is presented in the wider cinema format (usually 21:9) which results in black bars top/bottom on a 16:9 widescreen- I can just adjust the screen to eliminate them

Was just looking at it now. The W1080st+ doesn't have vertical lens shift by the looks of it while the W1070+ does. While it's not short throw, I'll be able to place it on top of a wardrobe, out of the way. Looks like I'll be getting that.

my boys use a white black out blind for CoD works very well

Do IKEA still sell their white Black-out blinds? - I used to use one of these as a projector screen and it was only £20ish for a 2m wide screen.

Thanks. Been on my wishlist for a while. Now just need to get a projector. BenQ W1080ST+ seems more convenient but it's a bit expensive compared to the Optoma HD141X.
Any recommendations?
I do not see any extra black at the top of the screen fabric. If not this means you would want to mount it a bit down from the ceiling. Otherwise the picture may be a bit high. Something to bear in mind.

Shame it's black when closed, will make it rather a dominant feature on the ceiling!

Glass beaded ones can reflect more light, which can be good. However they are also prone to sparkling and hot spotting, especially the cheaper ones.
I'm not a real expert but am in the market for a screen at the moment so have been doing a lot of reseach.
Your viewing environment along with the projector are the main factors when getting a screen from what I've learned.
Typical lounge with light walls and ceiling? Probably want a grey screen or ambient light rejecting.
Got a dark 'batcave'? Nice flat white screen.

Looking for a screen. Read somewhere that its best to go for glass bead ones? Anyone have any opinion on this?
