Just noticed that the price has dropped to £25.00. Nothing spectacular but not bad as a first phone or a back up phone for the money. 99p for an unlock code from eBay.

An affordable introduction to the world of Smartphones, the Vodafone Smart first 6 is easy to use and has all the features you'd expect from a Smartphone - at a price you wouldn't.
Smart but simple
Designed specifically to be easy to use, the Smart first 6 has a simple home screen with all the features you need. You're only ever one tap away from making a call, sending a text or email, taking a photo or browsing the web.
Stay connected
The Smart first 6 comes with Facebook and Twitter already installed - so you can update your status, catch up with the latest gossip and stay in touch with all your friends and family, straight out of the box.
Access to thousands of apps
The Smart first 6 runs Android - the world's most popular operating system - which gives you access to thousands of apps through the Google Play Store. So whether you're a fan of games, social media, music or movies, there's an app for everyone.
Why Vodafone?
Our outstanding network gives you excellent UK coverage for calls, texts and mobile broadband - indoors and out. We build our network so that signals from our masts overlap each other. It means you get fewer dropped calls and better mobile broadband. We focus on giving you a strong signal indoors and outside - unlike some operators who concentrate on spreading their signal over the widest area. We're the network of choice for many of the UK's emergency services. Ambulance, police and fire services know they can rely on us. We make sure you get the fastest service possible - even at the busiest times of the day - thanks to the extra capacity we build into our network.
What a pile of ridiculous comments. It's clearly a first phone, a backup up phone, or a phone for people who won't be hammering it by playing the latest graphic intensive games. Seriously.

will definately unlock once the £10 vodaphone top up expires (got it in Argos). It lasts 30 days only, then expires. Much better off keeping her tesco sim than bothering with that.

Lol. Sure, no problem. To unlock phones, you normally just have to put a sim card from another network into it. When you switch it back on after inserting the sim, a screen will come up asking for the network unlock code. You pop the code in and "voila" the phone is unlocked. When you buy the code off ebay, the seller will usually have a list of instructions on what to do. You've got to be careful when entering the number because you only get a few chances to get it wrong. Here's a link for a 99p code:
there is no deal here all stores same price including argos

It's a massive improvement over this phone for not much more money. You know this phone will be made in a cheap Chinese factory too, right?
The battery thing doesn't have any foundation really. Millions of these things are sold in the Chinese market. It's not hard in 2015 to put a safe Lithium battery in a phone.
I've got an Elephone and it's great. My friend has a Doogee and loves it.

It depends if that 11 year old needs Snapchat. If not, the experience with the Lumia is vastly better, as Windows Phone runs very well on low spec hardware.
The Smart First 6 is slow and can be unresponsive at times. The specs simply aren't good enough to run android properly.
