Just a quick warning, I was getting a lot of burn failures (both Mac & Windows) until I changed the USB 3 cable so it would appear the one that came with the drive is faulty. The drive itself is working well, only written DVDs with it so far.

Gutted I took them at their word that it was OOS and no longer in production so claimed a refund!

Blu Ray burner for circa £7 absolute bargain. Glad I waited when they said it was out of stock and decided to hold out for the stock to come in.

Nothing to do with that, aliexpress is a marketplace like ebay so you could be buying from anyone. Banggood sell the items themselves (like gearbest).

I think the difference might be that Bang good also has a European warehouse, and the is some kind of rule about no Chinese sellers. So I', guessing Bang-good's Euro warehouse qualifies them as "ok"

just because it has that in the picture doesn't mean its included. look at charger docks for iPhones, samsung etc. they have pictures of what it would look like but no phone is actually included with the £8 dock.

Not sure why the device I'm reading it on makes a difference but if you must know I used a macbook.

I think people are trying to read too much into the item listing.

It doesn't matter what an exact interpretation of the words would technically mean in a court of law. You're not going to go to court over an 8 pound caddy that the advert wasn't particularly clear for in the first place, and if you did you would lose because believe me, small claims courts care a lot, lot more about what is reasonable than what is technically correct - especially if you were chancing it in the first place.

Plus the only thing courts hate more than a chancer is someone wasting their time, and since not one person in a courtroom walks through the door for less than that eight quid, so let's stop pretending that our statutory rights are going to matter to a chinese importer selling drive caddies for less than the cost of a cinema ticket.

Blimey, if you really want an external blu-ray player (USB) buy a UK sourced one on Ebay. Start at about £20 but average appears to be £30.

usb 3 connectors are terrible. it seems like they are falling out from the second you plug them in. In fact they do fall out all the time on my external hard drives.

It does have a drive. The same is listed on other sites with the same code. You can even see the drive.

If it's a standard caddy, you can rip the drive out for use in a laptop, or buy the right cable and mount to install it in a desktop. The latter is how I got a cheap (£18 at the time) Blu-Ray reader for my desktop.

The typo could also be where it says "No extra drive" since that is on both listings as well and most likely should read "No extra driver". If you read the whole of this listing it sounds like a Blu-Ray combi drive, if you read the whole of the other listing it sounds like a Blu-Ray writer, except for the fact the other listing has a note in red suggesting it is a combi drive only and the review on the other drive.

Ultimately though it is hard to say as I can get a USB Blu-Ray writer on eBay buy it now from the UK for a little over £30, but cannot get a Blu-Ray combi drive from eBay for this low price. So either Banggood have overpriced one or underpriced the other.

Took a chance and ordered one hopefully it's not just a caddy don't sound like one.
If it is the way it listed it's a Cd/Dvd player/writer like repouk said they wouldn't give you a 2mb buffer if it was just a caddy.

At the end of the day you're taking a gamble - be prepared to lose £8 if it's not a drive. Forget about returning it - their returns procedure is a nightmare!

Apologies, you are right I was deluded for quite some time as both my (external) hard drives and router have these connectors and eSATA ones so I made a wrong deduction. Also googling micro USB for external hard drives gives you the ones most phones use rather than this which most certainly isn't that and I didn't know that I need to add -B when googling. Apologies if my "research" standards aren't up to your standard... I genuinely believed that was esata...

And exSATA is something autocorrect made when I wrote esata...

Apologies for wrong initial post, as pointed out by dcx_badass this is the USB3.0 female micro USB-B connector. I wouldn't call it standard compared to the ones on most phones though.

It is a connector which many USB 3.0 external hard drives also have. It is fairly standard and cheap and enables crazy fast speedsspeeds.

It looks like it is only a caddy (tray loading external portable ODD caddy) ..so not that great deal at all

its a USB to sata docking station for external drive units it not a DVD drive.
Ive got one you need to be careful about compatibility with the dockable drives. it doesn't work with every thing.

Has anyone actually got one of these yet. It sounds like it may just be a caddy not a drive but if it has a bluray reader in it it's an absolute bargain!
