I was in HMV earlier and saw that the Battle of the Five Armies steelbook had been reduced to £11.99. It's the 3d version and includes a normal 2d blu ray and HD digital copy.

This is a good deal, but waiting for the extended version personally. I'm just hoping we can find out what happened to Dain? I love that guy.

You need to check out the spence hobbit edit - six hours cut from the trilogy! So much better

I think the extended version steelbook is due out in next week or so ... that may be why they have reduced this version

I do really like the first film but an extended version of this sounds like a terrible idea. If they replaced a lot of the battle with more Bilbo Thorin stuff it would be the opposite.

I'm a lifelong Tolkien fan, I first read this book when I was 7. Peter Jackson has committed a serious crime.

Agree 1000% - this is just hideous garbage.
Jackson got carried away by self-importance after the praise he deservedly got for LOTR (the editing was atrocious though. Loads missed out that was needed,Christopher Lee's part in ROTK for ex - loads left in that wasn't) If he had of left it at the first one with maybe 30 minutes more (with Smaug), it would have been fine. The last two were just abysmal filling out
