You are better off with a Q5 for around £2...much brighter and only needs a single aa battery...

For everyone getting a Q5, make sure to buy a couple of 14500 batteries and a charger for them. They have a higher voltage (3.7v) than AAs and are what these little torches are designed to use and create an amazing amount of light for very little money. If you've been using AAs try the 14500s, the difference is amazing.

Jaizan, have you tried a long press on the on off button? I used to scroll through on my cycle lights until I discovered this function.

Good little torch for around the house.. buy two as the button will break eventually... not a deal though as these are always 99p or £1 in the big discount and £1 retailers.... so sadly cold even though everyone should have at least two... we use them inside our hallloween pumpkins as they are bright and the batteries last for ages...

not tried this Home Bargains torch, but I would like to add another recommendation for the CREE Q5 previously mentioned instead. I bought a few for about £1.82 each on Amazon and they are superb. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00QKG7EKC/?tag=ho01f-21
(you might have to wait a week or two for delivery from China though)

I have a few of these and pleased with it for that price. They have been in Home Bargains at that price for months. Hot from me

Got a few of these, keep them handy in case of power cuts (rare) etc. Ones hanging on the key rack by the door. Had one for at least three years now and they still work fine. Put one in OHs glove box in car each winter just in case. They last ages. Nice bright light too imo. Hot.

Agreed completely. Whilst cyclists might want a flashing light, many torch users have no need for such nonsense.
I want an ON mode and an OFF mode. Nothing else ever.
Reminds me of a useless rear cycle light I have with 8 flashing modes. 8 ! And I have to cycle through all of them to turn the damn thing off.
The issue that I have with the Q5 and most other Cree torches is that they alternate between bright light, normal brightness, and flashing SOS which is not very useful to me. I would want to be able to select which mode to use. The OP torch is at least consistent even if is nowhere near as bright as a Cree.

With the q5 torches I've had you can select which mode you use.

You can buy single mode Q5 if it bothers you that much...

Agreed. A gentle press of the power button jumps to the next mode in the cycle. A hard press turns the light on/off.

The Q5 torches are amazing I have three, I bought one of these home bargains torches a few years ago and to be honest they're crap in comparison to my Q5 cree torches
