Over inflated RRP if this is 80% off, has Sports Direct bought another 'brand' so it can churn out poor quality items from a once highly regarded company, think Kerrimor, Everlast, Muddy fox etc.
If you want a base layer that will last years and work well look at Helly Hansen, not the cheapest but good quality.

Mine arrived today. Worth noting a couple of things:
1. If you wear a size large football top normally (Adidas, Nike etc), then this will be an initially snug fit, but it is 100% perfect in sizing as a result.
2. The hem line where the top meets your waist, has a sticky/tacky strip running around the circumference to make sure it adheres to whatever surface it is against (skin, shorts, boxers etc) and not ride up. If you've worn a cycling bib shirt, then you know about the rubbery strip - it's exactly that.
3. The mock neck doesn't come up all that far, but it's about an inch or so above normal t-shirt lines.
There are loads in store in all sizes and colours and being an owner of Nike, Umbro (pre Nike), Decathlon and now Sondico compression tops, I have to say that these are easily up there in terms of quality with Nike.

Just picked up a Sports direct one (I would go at least one size up - arms seem small); it seems fine but thinner and not as good as the aldi / lidl ones, but £3 ish cheaper.

We bought these for my 7 yr old last year for Sunday morning rugby - I paid about £8/9 for each top and trousers.
They aren't thermal but they were warm enough for him and have worn well, still wearing them this season.

Pretty sure the tops are cheaper direct from sondico store. Typical sportsdirect marketing ploy!!
PLOY?? its the same company now and it dont matter what they claim the RRP to be,you cant get anything better unless u pay over twice the price.

well i have just done 2 scafell walks in a day in lakes and i was wearing £35 karrimor boots(comfiest boots i had in years) and waterproof and i wore a sondico compression tshirt and boxers and i was so comfy,i walk around every day for a living and i will be stocking up on these and let the brand snobs wear what they want.
i refuse to pay £30 for a top when i can get one at a quater of price with same function.

I have an Umbro base layer from SD that is about 10 years old and still going strong - paid this price for it around then as well (when Nike were about £25 a go!). I have ordered a whole stack of these, as they're great for Sunday morning footy, great for getting out on the bike under a MTB bib top, great for wearing under a golf shirt (if you have the mock neck) and great for the gym.
Decathlon have some half-decent bike tops, but I find the large are a bit too small for me and don't wash as well; football compression tops are a better fit for me personally. Thanks OP - voted hot.

I don't think Everlast was that bad between 1910 and 2000 then the brand was sold on and the rot set in and has got worse since Sports Direct got hold of them in 2007.
Muddy Fox was one of 'The' brands in the 80's for mountain bikes until they were overtaken by myriad others.
I assume you are not old enough, to have witnessed either brand in their prime.

false economy is kind of the opposite, when something is cheap but doesn't last as long you you end up spending more in the long run. I find cheap washing up liquid to be a false economy as it is so watered down you end up using far more than the more expensive ones (to a point) so spend more overall.
