A £5 price drop both on Amazon and direct from Vodafone, but I'd prefer Amazon's speedier delivery. Cheapest it's been. This is very cheap for the spec, I'm torn between this and the 2nd Gen Moto G for £89.99 on PAYG upgrade at the Carphone Warehouse. The Motorola will have better support long term, can't see the Prime 6 getting beyond Lollipop 5.1.1. Of course the Ultra 6 is the real Vodafone winner but currently nearly twice the price of this.
Silver only, for some reason "Anthracite" is £74.99.
Specs
Android 5.0 Lollipop
5 inch IPS LCD Touchscreen
8MP camera with Auto-focus and LED Flash
Quad Core 1.2GHz Processor
8GB Internal Memory
Supports microSD cards up to 64 GB
This device will be upgraded to the Android 6.x (Marshmallow) release of Android, pending partner support.

It's annoying Vodafone haven't come out and said anything about Marshmallow for the latest Smart series. This is why I'm always keener on devices with a strong dev community like the Moto G, even if the manufacturer leaves you hanging you can still get later versions of Android.
I'm on an S4 which has great support on XDA, looking at a budget handset to replace my Mum's Huawei Y300 which also has a great developer community on Modaco, but it's starting to look long in the tooth with only 512Mb RAM and 4Gb of storage. Can't help thinking the Prime 6 will only get as far as 5.1.1 and there seems to be little to no developer support anywhere. But it is cheap and has gains over it's nearest priced rivals like the Moto G 2nd Gen such as NFC.
I'm in the same dilemma for my personal upgrade, the Smart Prime 6 looks great, especially if it does drop under £100 again, but I can't see it getting past 5.1.1 either. There has been a little bit of work on Cyanogenmod 12 on XDA by a guy called lonespeaker, but he admits himself he doesn't really know what he's doing and seems to be working on his own. He's asked for help so it may work out. Otherwise I'm actually considering a refurbished S5 for a bit more since it has a strong development community and you can replace the battery (which is something I do want personally whatever that enormously rude person with fox in his name keeps trolling about in other threads!)

Should be, there seem to be codes on eBay for about £3ish that are reported to work in the other Prime 6 threads on here.
thanks, been looking for cheap first smart phone for an older relative who wants it mainly to take photos when they're out & about. Seems easy to unlock, so will investigate :man:

Vodafone Smart Prime 6 - Can't unlock by code from any of the eBay sellers and online sellers.
Can only be unlocked by genuine Vodafone code (£20 credit and 60 days activation and usage), or by direct cable unlock using furiousgold or sigmakey unlocking software.
I know because I've had mine, bought for the Mrs, since July and have bought and had refunded 11 code attempts. Also been into 5 shops in Leicester, 3 in Kettering, 2 in Corby.
Smart ultra 6, on the other hand, eBay unlock code within 2 hours and son loves it. About to buy another for my eldest.
Wife doesn't want anything bigger than 5" screen, she's not into games and I'd rather the phone had lollipop. Otherwise she'd have a su6 this afternoon!! Great phones they are.

Thanks, this is good to know, I was planning to get this for my Mum on GiffGaff but factoring in £20 for unlocking makes the Moto G 2nd Gen on a par price wise, and as I say, Motorola's update policy is much better than Vodafone's

I have to disagree. I can confirm that there are several unlocking codes available in Ebay for Vodafone Smart prime 6, which I have done successfully 3 weeks ago. It costed me 3.74. Just type smart prime 6 unlocking in ebay and yoy get it.

Guys, would you mind sharing the listings/sellers?
There are cheaper eBay sellers offering unlock codes. Try searching for VF-895N Unlock.

So can this be unlocked or not?
Really confusing as some say yes and some say no way and they have had to get refunds from several code sellers???
It appears obvious that there are people out there with unlocked Smart Prime 6 phones........but how they did it (Direct cable / ebay code etc) is all very uncertain.
There is at least one ebay seller who has positive feedback showing for sales of Smart Prime 6 phones so one can only assume that they work right?!
My phone is dead and I urgently need a cheap replacement before a trip away and this would seem to fit the bill perfectly.........if only I could be certain of it being unlocked this week.
Does anyone have the definitive answer please?

I've just tried this seller (smartphones.outlet) and the code failed (processing failure).
Same chap supplied a code for my Smart Ultra 6 that worked a treat.
He is a good seller and immediately offered a refund but I'm at a loss what to do now :disappointed:

And this guy has positive feedback for the Smart Prime 6 so that just makes it even more confusing??
Think I'm now going to have to look for a different phone as I just don't have time to chance it and risk it not working.
Shame as it looks like it would have tied me over nicely too

Just to update, got mine unlocked via Vodafone and Mrs is using it with 3 SIM.
Most interesting bit was this message from Vodafone:
"Hi hapless,
Here’s an update on your request to unlock your phone so you can use it on a different network.
We are getting the code for you
We didn’t have the code on our database so we’ve asked your phone’s manufacturer for it.
Reference Number: 1234567
How long does it take?
It can take up to 10 working days from today for us to get the code from them. As soon as we do, we’ll email it to you – along with instructions on what to do next. "
Code actually arrived 3 days later, so I'm very dubious about eBay and net unlockers claims.
The current Mrs hapless is getting in ok with the smart prime 6, but actually took a smart ultra 6 to Spain whilst I waited for Vodafone to get the code.
She was disappointed when I took the ultra off her and copied everything over to the prime.
For someone who moaned that 5.5" phones were too big, she adapted very quickly and liked the performance and flexibility of apps, especially compared to her cousin's iPhone.
