I love Civ, more the building up and developing rather than the fighting. For those who have played this, do you think I would like it? Hard to roll hw much fighting is involved..
Appreciate your advice..!

This is simpler than Civ and has slightly different game play mechanics. You always have just three rivals, but there is also a large native presence and a dynamic with your sovereign power. You settle the New World, accept immigrants, grow raw materials, make processed goods and trade them back to your home continent for currency. As the game goes on and you become more and more independent and your sovereign power increases import taxes, making it harder to survive. The aim is to declare independence from your sovereign power before your rivals and if you survive the resulting military onslaught, you win the game.

I guess any Civilization game under a tenner is worth it  HEAT

This is a really old game, like think back to your aging Amiga 500 brooding in a tatty mouldy box ever since you abandoned it in the loft alongside the collection of massive cardboard disk boxes that came with the games back then. For me, I'd rather leave those ghosts undisturbed.

My first "civ" experience. Adored this game as a kid. Steering clear of this as I'll never get into it again. Want to keep those memories intact!

Actually I played it recently and unlike the original civ and sim city's i've tried to go back to, I found it a crisply playable and entertaining game still

I've played the remake of this and it's really boring. Hundreds and hundreds of moves moving boats around arghh

The remake is worse than the original in my opinion. The added complexity makes it really slow. It could be nostalgia talking but I thoroughly enjoyed myself when I fired up this version a few months back, 20 years or so since I last played it.
