Great for holding a phone steady while you're filming or over the heads of a crowd. Also when there's two of you and you want both in the picture. Great fun and eff the begrudgers

Worth finding out of the camera/phone holder is removable because some of them have a standard screw thread so you can take that bit off and use it to attach your phone to your proper tripod for doing video etc. 4k phone footage looks awful handheld but pop it on a tripod and suddenly it looks fantastic.

tbh I couldn't see the point before but if you are with someone on holiday who is useless at taking pics, I would rather take my own picture instead , I wouldn't waste a tenner but for a pound Id buy one

The thought just makes me a little sick in my mouth, I hate these things. Almost as bad as the people who walk around with a tablet to take pictures of everything. Hate it.
Wouldn't use it myself but it is cheap for a selfie stick so hot.

I've been off social media for five years - when you're not on it you see people around you, heads down, phone in hand. It's not going to get any better

This should get voted red hot by street criminals as it is a great way to identify that you are a tourist and it also makes it much easier for thieves in crowded places to grab your camera and run off with it.

And why is it 'sad'? If it was a younger couple would it still be sad?

Taken some nice holiday pics with the girlfriend using a selfie stick.
All it is is being able to take a picture of yourself, zoomed out. Get over yourselves people.
Hot deal, thanks OP

These have been around for age in the pound shop. The useful part is the top unscrews and the stick has a thread on the end that fits standard thread in the bottom of most cameras.
So you can set the camera on a timer and hold the stick up to take pictures over an object or peoples heads ,etc ( or through windows if your name is Tom ) !
