I've got one of the USB3 versions as well. All in all I think these 2s are likely to last longer as the 3s feel flimsy in comparison.

I want to copy movies between a usb pen and a usb external disk without a laptop and up to this point I have been copying then to my phone by otg from the pen and then back to the external hard disk. I suspect this device has a male usb connection so will not provide a neat solution for me. Can anyone confirm that please?

This has a usb type a connector at one end and a otg compatible micro usb at the other. Both are male, the type a usb end goes into a pc and the micro usb end into a smartphone or tablet (but not at the same time afaik).

I think you'll need to invest in a female cable for a start.

They're both as good as each other imho... better than transcend. Some reviewers would argue Sandisk over Kingston and some the other way round...

Well my Kingston otg died after a few weeks! Was slow too even though it was USB 3.
These otg are OK but you can't use bit locker etc on them as most phones won't read it. Handy for quick transfers though!
