Vodka deal followers will know of my love for Russian Standard over other vodkas - it's smooth (unlike Smirnoff), it hasn't been watered down to save pennies like some other "genuine" Russian vodkas (yes Green Mark, I'm looking at you).
And it's cheap.
Well it's about to be as cheap as it's going to get, this must be the bare minimum price when taking VAT and duty into account, an amazing £10 for 70cl, works out at £14.29 a litre.
Yes, I know that it is currently £11 a bottle (£15.71 a litre) in Sainsbury's at the moment, but this offer starts on WEDNESDAY 28/10/15 and runs until Tuesday 17/11/15.
I spotted this as the new offers start on a Wednesday in Sainsbury's and usually if you log in and book your slot for Wednesday the weekend before you can see the new deals (pays off when looking for grocery deals, no point buying, say, this Vodka in a delivery on Tuesday when I can just wait til Wednesday and get it a quid cheaper).
Get stocked up folks, usual special price on a litre bottle is £15, maybe (VAT and duty minimum charging permitting) it could hit £14 for Xmas (maybe even after this deal ends if my memory serves me from last year), but at £14.29 a litre this is a great price.

Factor in some creative account creation for some "first" shop money off (if you are so inclined) and well, I'm sure someone will do the maths....

And again, I wanted a palatable everyday* vodka, and to me, Russian Standard beats all others hands down, and I keep coming back to it so it must be doing the trick.
it has nothing to do with proper vodka any more , taste and fell chemical, terrbile handover like after smirnoff , try some proper polish vodka or finlandia, belvedere or even absolut will be way better choice

I was in a Tesco express tonight in Croydon and they were selling 35cl bottles for £5.30. 70cl bottles were £13.

I'm just a regular deal hunter so no, as I said in the blurb, just log on to your Sainsbury's grocery account and select Wednesday as your delivery day - usually the specials are updated over the weekend so you will be able to see what is coming up and whether (as in this case) it's better to put off delivery until Wednesday rather than take a delivery before.
I always do this as some yoghurts my missus likes are "usually" £1.75 for 4, yet they are perennially on special offer, either 2 for £3, 3 for £3, £1.50 for a pack, yet from Wed they are £1.00 a 4 pack - so it pays to wait...

You've got heat from me but this vodka is poor quality. Better than smirnoff which is (for the last 7 years) the worst vodka labelled chemical liquid but still not a proper vodka. I try a lot of vodkas during a year and the ONLY one which has never froze in the freezer was Finlandia. Even... Absolut froze one time. Finlandia is the best of premium mid range vodkas. As somebody mentioned before, let's not compare this kinds of vodkas to for example Belvedere which is pure 100% Polish vodka and... probably the best vodka in the world according to the independent experts. Even James Bond thinks so recently :smiley:

As I said, each to their own - I don't bother fannying around with sticking it in the freezer (my freezer is crammed with all the bargain food I get and then freeze :smile:) - I don't even have it in the fridge, I just stick a "club" measure in a tall glass, some crushed ice (from my inexplicably still working ice making freezer) and fill the rest with soda water.
I get pished, I don't have a hangover, it costs a tenner a bottle - result.
I'm not against other, perhaps "better" vodkas - I've just decided that this is always on special at one of the supermarkets at just about +/- £15/l and after sampling a lot of vodkas around that price then this is the regular one for me.

I always keep Russian Standard in the freezer at -18C and it has never frozen. It just goes a little gloopy - something approaching the consistency of single cream, perhaps.

OP, You'll find even Russian standard vodka is indeed watered down.
Any proper vodka is made in a fractioning column still and the end product will be very pure and up to 95.6% Ethanol aka Vodka which is dangerous to drink neet so it is watered down to a safe drinking level.

LOL, I'm going assume you are being mistakenly pedantic but I'll bite...
My point, of course, was that Green Mark USED to be 40%, but has recently been UNNECESSARILY watered down even further to 38%.

Oh - this is that cheap stuff they have in a lot of clubs, good price but it's not very nice.
Belevedere is the best I've tasted, but it's a lot more expensive! And wont go gloopy if you put it in the freezer, gloopy vodka is not a good sign.

Vodka only goes gloopy in the freezer because of the water content.
The stronger abv (Alcohol by volume) the vodka is it will stay liquid at lower temperatures.
So if you buy a 40% Belvedere it will be gloopy in the freezer just like Russian standard or Smirnoff red label.
50% Belvedere versions will be less gloopy just like export strength Smirnoff blue label.

Hah - never really thought about it; I just thought it was the 'done thing'! I suspect that if you're drinking it straight, it's smoother. But I always mix it with lemonade, so it probably makes no difference.

Love this stuff. Nice and smooooth. I am a bargain hunter even when it comes to drinks so for the price to me this is the best vodka out there. Obviously there is a lot better to be had, but not in this price range.
