My son (age 8 ) has these but shouldn't kids of that age be trying to read the books themselves rather than listen to them? serious question.
Another of my niece's Christmas presents sorted.

This is a good deal if you need the Tin and the CDs, otherwise if you are just looking for the MP3 versions, they are available FREE OF COST on Soundcloud OR Youtube, just search for Roald Dahl. I might as well post this as a deal;-) https://soundcloud.com/penguin-books/

I think it's fine , my 7 year old reads Charlie and the Chocolate factory all the time and is a good reader but I still read to her at bedtime , these cd's are an extension of that and will only encourage her love of roald dahl. I might rethink the purchase if she wasn't interested in reading herself

Of course, but we keep these in our car and when travelling on a long car journey, these are really, really great (I have the older version of these CDs - different, but equally great, people reading them :-)

I allow one or two audio sessions a week after our 9 year old girl has read a book usually if she says she cannot sleep. These put her out like a light in 30 minutes.

I ordered this a couple of weeks back for £18. My 9 year old absolutely loves it. He still reads by himself, and I still read to him :-). He usually listens to these in bed. He has a younger brother that he shares a room with. He's not always ready to go to sleep when it's time to turn the light out and these are perfect. It was quite a project to import them all with all the correct track listing though. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in particular was identified as an R Kelly album called Chocolate Factory...

I want to buy this, but stuff the idea of a 4 year old with that many CD's - he's trashed enough already.
Where's the MP3's?

This is very educational, as children will wonder a CD is. I remember when I was a kid and my Dad got me this set on Vinyl, having to take the window out of the house and the crane well it was quite exciting.
