Rainbow Six Vegas 2, on PC
A few years old, but was a great game in its time and probably still great co-op and mp with mates.
I think it's part of a Uplay 72hour deal, so the deal is only available a few days.

Was recently in the Humble Bundle so I imagine a few more then usual, I have the Steam version and they're are still people playing it.

Urgh Uplay.
I finally managed to order the game after payment authorisation kept failing. I logged into pay pal, paid and was given an order number - but nothing was emailed to me.
The order doesn't appear in my account - but I checked their help page and it turns out the order was cancelled by the system. They used my 20% off code though.
On top of this I only found out after ordering that you only have 30 days to download the game. The consumer satisfaction survey points to a dead link on a third party website called Research.net as well.
God it makes me realise how much I take Steam for granted.

Look, I'm not a great fan of Uplay either, but.
Any system can have errors from time to time processing orders. For the record I've bought a decent number of titles direct on Uplay (a dozen maybe) and never had a problem with an order going through. I'm sure there are a lot of people who could say they've had problems with orders on Steam as well.
Where did you see this? I think it may be the case that this was true a long time ago in the infancy stage of download distributed games, but I can download any of my games on Uplay whenever I want without any time limits or restricitions... just like Steam.
Funny and a bit careless, but not a big deal. I've never had any need to use Ubisoft's customer services though, but I can't see them being any worse than Steams almost non-existent customer services.
In spite of all the above, Steam is still the gold standard and I think we all take it for granted. That does not mean that all other services have no value though, and importantly, that they won't improve over time. Steam wasn't always as good as it is now. Beating up on these other services just isn't cool. I don't think a game download environment with a complete Steam monopoly would be a good thing.

I am wondering if its different for legacy games? In fact come to that I am starting to wonder if there are some deeper issues.
The 72 hour deal button stubbornly refuses to work - I can only get to the store page to the game by searching for it.
On top of that the Look up orders section of the help page isn't working either. I have tried Chrome and IE and neither seem to work.
I don't necessarily mind it if an order doesn't go through - but then losing the 20% discount code I bought by redeeming uplay tokens is a pain. Especially as not only did I have to contact uplay to get the code to appear in the first place - but I doubt the response I get to this query will arrive by the time the deal expires.
So far its been half an hour of fannying around for what to be honest was an impulse buy.
Pretty crummy experience all round tbh...

I've used Ubisofts CS and it's not as good as EA's but it is way better than Steams. Though as you say, that's not difficult! Steam probably have the worth CS ever.
That's a throw back to the pre-Uplay days. Anything on UPlay you'll be able to download whenever. Though do note that with some older games sourced from third parties (such as retail), your cd key is not saved into Uplay and you'll need to keep a copy of it for future Windows re-installs. Learned that the hard way with TinTin

That is strange. It isn't on any of the order confirmations or invoices for any of mine, including some older titles like Silent Hunter 5 and Driver San Francisco. I haven't bought anything directly from Uplay for over a year though. I would hope that it's just a mistake, or a very specific issue for that title (which would majorly suck; but I doubt it is).
Either way, if it's correct it is definitely bad and if it's wrong/outdated it is just careless that such a confusing thing should still be visible.
The 72 hour deal button doesn't work for me in Chrome either, which is pathetic and so typical of both Ubisoft's and EA's store fronts. They are both terrible. Neither do a good job of highlighting items that are on sale and both just seem very amateurish, both the web site and in-client stores. They need to do better,
I don't know about the help page, but going directly to 'My Order History' directly from the 'My Account' menu at the top works for me (in Chrome).
It has been a pretty crummy experience so far and it's entirely Ubisoft's own fault that you have been left with such a bad impression of them. It's not usually going to be like that though. Sometimes things even work OK. :laughing:

I'm disappointed that it won't work. I'm using XP and I get "General Protection Fault History: " whenever I try to launch the game. Here's what I've tried so far based on advice online:
- Verified game files in UPlay
- Tried to run the game using just one core using the Winlauncherxp utility
- Disabled Vanderpool/ Virtualization in my BIOS
Can anyone help? Oddly, I always get the "Run As" dialog box when I try to start the game, asking me which Windows user account I wish to use to run the program.
