Bear with me, but I beleive this is a cracking deal.
Normal RAC Vehicle Cover for £27.99, then add Recovery for £40.00 - makes it £67.99 for the Policy.
Not sure why, but the CashBack on RAC Policies for £30-£51 policies is £14.50. But the next bracket up (£51-£105) is £43.99 (?!)
So you get a decent package (you can add Home Start for an extra £24, but as the main policy covers a quarter of a mile from your house, I have literally pushed cars to the end of the road that goes through our block of houses - and it counts!)
Points to include is that the cashback isnt for renewing policies (but if you're like me you bounce between AA and RAC following the cashback each year) and the cashback does take 3 months to pay (which will be a decent £43.99 for the January Sales!) :D The Policy has to be paid in full, not on a monthly basis also, but £67.99 I thought was rather decent for a single 'wedge'.
Note: If (like me) cashing out your TCB for Amazon/Shopping, remember you get an extra 5%, so the £43.99 will actually be £46.19 to spend on Amazon etc. (Or +10% if going for one of the other bonusable merchants/prepayable cards/gift cards)

I dont think im portraying the deal enough in the total - this isnt the standard £20 offer you'd get normally. Adding in the National Recovery (for you and up to 7 people) is usually a super expensive add on (Its £40 extra!)
But to get this whole package for £24 (net) is brilliant for a years worth in my book.

To me, this isn't that great, depending on how you use your car.
For a single vehicle, it would be £28 -12=£16. So this deal is equivalent to that after cashback you paid £8 more for the 'Recovery'. For many years, I never need 'Recovery'. An extra £8 will be wasted more than likely, plus the risk of a failed cashback.

i've took out new policies just to claim cashback but last year when i spoke to the cancellations team they said they would match the figures so that i didnt have to go through the cashback hassle. might be a worthwhile call for someone having to renew.

Exactly.
If you've bought the Recovery aspect, but never used it (?) You must feel really aggrieved when you have to buy all those pesky insurances and don't have a crash/get burgled/lose your phone/don't die.
Peace of mind this is for me.

I didn't say it's a bad deal, and I did use 'to me' in the beginning to avoid offend anyone. Just my opinion.
From time to time, having an add-on with large cashback could reduce the cost lower than without. I consider those deals 'HOT'. However like I said it all depends on your need. If you need 'Recovery', surely £8 a year is not much.
BTW, 50p a bottle of Corona is HOT!

Ok, not bad after cashback but it's not guaranteed.
For £65 I got two cars covered on 'rescue plus' which includes the at home cover (90% of any breakdowns I've had have happened at home), misfuelling, the usual etc with greenflag, (minus some cashback, can't remember how much).
Spend the extra and get home cover, whoever you're planning on getting a policy with. Life's too short to push a car 1/4 mile and wait there for however long until the breakdown people arrive.

You don't wait, you ring them *then* push the car as it's a minimum hour each time.
Mine tracked after about an hour (although average for RAC is 11). If yours hasnt tracked, I think the rule is that you have to wait seven days. Then process a manual claim. My personal success rate on manual claims is superb. I assume that something with the SID/UID or something drops - or I do something wrong, but because ive bought the product and the details I give (my details/order number etc) all stack up - it always works out.

I've been with rac since I've held my lisence(4 years) I've been towed home, and many call outs, on one a occasion I brought my self an old bmw e30 and had it towed back home due to a betting radiator cap bursting. Can't complain about their service one bit.

Just going to post a similar deal, got recovery and home start for £66 minus £45 cashback. Can't argue with £21 for a year! Cashback tracked straight away.

Cheers for the post. I did this yesterday and have received notification of cashback today. Also received a reward email from the RAC which gives me a £20 Amazon voucher 35 days after the policy starts!
