No joining fee this weekend and possibly a 20% price reduction (I'm not sure what the old prices were).

nice price and no contract makes this hot! Wish they had a chain near me, I'm not going to my local gym which charges 35quid/month and you must signup for 12months and than if you somehow just decide to say fuk-it I'm going abroad for few months and cancel your directdebit they put up bogus charges and after few months you get a visit and countless calls every day from debt collectors- For a damn Gym!!!
I'm talking about lifestylefitness.co.uk Scam artists! Worst damn chain ever...

You sign up for a contract with anything and break it you should expect consequences, not sure how it being a gym makes any difference - mobile contracts, mortgages, utility companies all the same. Cancelling a Direct Debit just cancels a payment to them, not the contract. Not the fault of the gym that you lost interest in the same way I wouldn't expect Sky to care if I stopped paying them as I was too busy to watch TV.

No, nothing 'extra' as it helps to keep the costs down

Pure Gym do day passes too. Good way to see if you like the gym. However Pure Gym annoyed me when I could not get access to Northampton Pure Gym despite entering the correct pin. Called costumer service, who said it must be my fault. So never used them again.

Good gyms with lots of new equipment and very clean. Sadly, the lower the monthly cost, the more busy they will be so you will want to bare that in mind. If you work out at peak times, go and take a look before you sign up.

If you're clever with your timings, days etc, they never find out, I can confirm because a friend of a friend of a friend does this all the time

What measures do they put in place to prevent people sharing pin numbers?

Supposedly monitor them by using cctv but not sure how they'd have time for all that, plus looking at time usage - if someone is going at 8am and then again at 10am, it would appear suspicious. They do ban those that share pins but not sure how many have been banned

apparently face recognition on the cctv cameras as you enter the gym

He must have something wrong with him as if he was that fat, his arms would be full of it. My guess is, it's ascites, from cirrhosis of the liver.

If you're already a member and paying more then log in to your account and choose "upgrade", selecting the lower price. It'll reduce the future payments without the hassle of cancelling and rejoining.
Edit: Also got an email for the new direct debit saying the "first" payment would be £12.75 instead of £15.99 (and originally £19.99) despite the website saying it would be £15.99 from now on. Another few quid saved for very little effort!

Does this still allow you to go to other Pure Gyms? I still only pay £15.99 as signed up years ago and you can enter any gym (need to set a second location - which you can change), at least £19.99 now though.

The ones in West Bromwich and West Birmingham are very good. Great classes, friendly and showers available. Strange that your experience was a poor one. They've had a recent facelift. Give it another try
PS even the chavs need to get fit

You should have gone early in the morning or late at night, chavs free time that is. No offence to the chavs, although no one would categorise themselves as chavs, so I'm pretty sure no one was offended by my comment.

Same as Bradders, run on the road(grass where possible), and I'm fortunate to have some outdoor gym equipment nearby for dips & chin-ups.

i go to the one in newport, great gym classes are great and free, can go 24 hours a day as it is a pin number to get in unique to each individual. no frills but equipment is good.
Good deal if you can get it and want to join a gym.
