Wouldn't worry about the vanguard pack, they are only common green weapons and are a waste of time!

Expansions are digitally on the PSN/ Xbox store. Or you can buy this pack which contains all of year 1 content and the taken king.

if you have a destiny game disc it will automatically update to the taken king when you log into the PSN however the content will be locked until you enter the DLC code.
the game disc itself contains just the original game regardless of what box it comes with, or what expansions it has bundled with it. codes will be within the box itself on a pre printed card, along with a playstation plus voucher for a free trial if you've not already had one.
i have destiny installed on ps4 and the whole instal takes up around 40gb. considering a bluray is about 25gb iirc that means a 15gb+ download in order to play it, this will take time considering the PSN isnt really that fast.
with regards to 360/xbone transfer, i would advise that it probably doesnt carry over. a simple way to tell would be to log on and then ask other players what console they are on, if you can freely chat with 360/xbone players then your chars may carry across but i doubt it.

The story is all in the grimoire if you're interested in reading it, its incredibly detailed but confusing, not important though.

The crafting element is infusion. If you have a legendary or exotic item that you like, but find a different item with a higher attack/defence rating, you can use that new item to infuse your old gear to a higher rating. That way you can keep the gear you like without losing out on light level.

Stick to it, it gets better the deeper you get in.....But try and get some more guys into your fire team as the game plays better with others and not solo.

The 3 expansions are on code, not on the disc
Hence why it sells the same 2nd hand as vanilla Destiny
And for £15 is quite the rip off

​the Legendary edition contains the game and all add ons, you need the game and previous ad ons to use the taken king, which is one of the reasons they are selling the whole bundled for the same price as the taken king on its own.
If you've not played it, this new full version is more like it should have been at lunch.
Leveling up from level 1 to 40 will most likely take you through the entire story, that's not including side objectives etc.
Once you hit level 40 your total damage of equipped weapons and defense of armour items is calculated into your "light level" this is the game's way of determining if you are tough enough for a given enemy.
Generally speaking if you are the same level as an enemy the fight is fair, if you are one level higher they will deal less damage to you but will be no easier to kill, there is no increase in damage dealt when you are a higher level than the enemy.
If you fight an enemy a higher level than you, or one with a higher recommended light level it will be a struggle.
If you are good at fps games you may be able to beat enemies 2 levels higher but they will virtually one hit you.
And in terms of jumping to level 25. If you had the game within the first year you will be granted an item when you install the taken king. The item will boost once character to level 25, which is the recommended character level for starting the taken king story.
As has already been said. If you buy used, or a game listed as not including any Dlc then you are buying the original Base game, destiny which allows you to get to level 34 but by getting the add ons you are virtually doubling the amount of content.

Dark below and house of wolves are £20 each, and taken king is £40. That's if they are bought separately on the PlayStation store.

Hardest mission so far was a Level 10 one with a sword wielding nutter throwing electricity. I'm running around picking him off, rinse and repeat. With this going on i get two lots of baddies spawned. Took me a few goes to do this one. I'm doing it solo but could I do as a 3 player? Would it be easier or is the difficulty upped when there is more than one?

I'm assuming there are no lobbies in this game. It's mostly based around having friends/clans and inviting them to play with you.

I know I am a Johnny come lately to Destiny but for all my trials, it is my kind of game.
