Worth just mentioning that it's a Euro console and you'll need a 3 pin plug adaptor.

Either use a fused conversion plug, cut the plug off and fit a UK one, or buy a lead with a UK plug fitted already. Don't use the cheap supermarket plug adapters, they are meant for temporary use only.

why is the new model better?

I don't see how so many people struggle to understand. The PS4 has an internal power supply and the cable is a standard AC power cable with a C7 connector (also known as figure-8 ) on the end. ANY C7 power lead from any device will work with the PS4, it is an IEC standardised connector, this includes the one provided with the PS3. The PS4 is NEVER going to use more than 700W (plus the C7 connector is only rated to 2.5A) so the plug should have a 3A fuse.
DON'T use the cheap supermarket travel adapters, they are designed for INFREQUENT use only, not permanent. You can buy a C7 power lead with a UK plug for a couple of quid if you really don't have any others at home already. The ONLY type of plug converter which is suitable for long term use is the type like this: https://www.stagedepot.co.uk/essentials/power-adapters/schuko/schuko-uk-converter-plug-fused-bsi-approved but you can buy a lead with a UK plug for the same money so why bother?

I ordered one a while back but why do you need to buy a figure 8 power cord, I only bought a 2 pin to 3 pin power adaptor
I'm a bit confused
tristanhamishm
1 Nov 15#62
Just a miscommunication I think (crossed wires if you excuse the pun)!
When I said power adapter I meant the figure 8 power cord. I shouldn't need anything else on top of that surely?
dazzy999
1 Nov 151#61
You did the right thing. I also bought the same for 2.99

Yes you can use any figure 8 power cord but for a uk adaptor you will need a 2 pin to 3 pin as I said

Hey mate, then how come everybody's saying you can use PS1/PS2/Ps3 Cables?

depends what games you like better,Sony exclusives like Uncharted or MS exclusives like Halo..I bought PS4 at first, sold it and bought Xbox One,now I've sold the Xbox too.I'm waiting for more exckusive games to come and will then re-buy a PS4 as I like Sony exclusives MUCH better than MS style games like Halo..I think Sony has much more variety of established exclusives (Uncharted,Yakuza,Japanese games,Gran Turismo,God of War,etc) whereas MS is all about Halo and Forza.but then again depends on your taste.

Price is good but storage space is low, so, it's okay for people who want a PS4 asap though not ideal. Still, 1TB HDD is very affordable nowadays.

1 Nov 15#45
Thats just bad luck..... people who buy this will see even better deals over the next 3 weeks with Black November deals coming through, the longer you wait the cheaper/better deal you get, its not rocket science, every console goes down in price with time, When PS5 comes out PS4 will be available for £100....Its just a case of how long you are prepared to wait
Im a skinflint, so holding on a little longer although must admit very nearly went for this one

Sony do cover without receipt. Brought one second hand it broke but gave them the serial number and they said its still in 12month warranty and repaired it. This was a uk mode though.
Dryosh to Mouse27887

The console comes under the coverage of scee same as the uk model, warranty shouldn't be an issue.
mg357
1 Nov 15#26
This is pretty much everything that I would want. No unwanted games bundled = no trips to CEX...etc...
Regarding the plug, am I able to use my PS3's power cord? All my cables are tucked away and tidied up, I would prefer to just take my ps3 base out and swap it straight with the ps4 using the exact same power cord, HDMI and ethernet cables.
tomkat to mg357
1 Nov 15#39
yes you can use ps3 cable it's the same cable from the ps1 it's a 2 pin plug
A common UK plug is generally fitted with a 3A or 13A fuse. For appliances up to 700w you need to use a 3A fuse and for appliances over 700w you need to use a 13A fuse. For example:
3A Fuse – Table lamp, standard lamp, television, video, computer, mixer, blender, fridge, freezer, power drill, jig saw, soldering iron
13A Fuse – Washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, kettle, toaster, iron
Manufacturers have now standardised plug fuse ratings to be either 3A or 13A. However, 5 Amp fuses are still used in some older equipment and are available to buy.

You can use any figure 8 power cord as long as the fuse is 5Amp it should work just fine. If you are after two controllers then this is the best deal so far. Black Friday deals will more than likely included some games and 1 pad so I took the dive and bought this one anyway, finally get to play Formula F1 2015 <3

It's worth noting (as stated in the deal description) that this is the new CUH-1200 hardware which has significantly less power usage and runs much cooler and quieter. It is also a slightly different colour to the original model and has physical buttons for power and eject unlike the awful touch sensitive ones that the first gen had. I've been eyeing this up on ebay for a few days and I believe it's better than any current deal in the UK for console and 2 controllers only.

EU warranty should be fine in UK I guess. UK is part of EU. It's not like it's a US model. I think these are from Hungary and that is the default language set according to one of the feedback
