Now I am not sure if one can class this as a good deal, but then I think as you get a 12 month warranty it is essentially the same as buying new!
The elephant in the room will be....what happens if it goes wrong.... simply, you return it to Amazon, I have done many a return to Amazon and it works the same way, except you choose the postage and they refund it after they receive it, in fact it tends to get there quicker than in this country :)
if you are on a budget, this could be a good deal, I am not convinced either way, but I know the 12 month warranty is a good thing :)

Don't worry about economic models and pricing strategies, just stick to basics for now.I just tried to educate you because you made silly comments and then denied it.next time think before saying something you have no idea.

You said %10 cheaper quality parts are being used.which is not true.
parts becoming cheaper after few years is different than lower quality cheaper parts being used as you said.
they were not making any profit on hardware initially, and were aiming at profit from software and services they sell.even when parts become cheaper after 2-3 years,I doubt they make noticeable profit on hardware.it's all about software sales and services.. that's how console business works nowadays.same applies to Microsoft consoles.
Nintendo though are different and follow a different business model, they definitely aim to profit on hardware too.thats why their consoles are often lower end hardware wise.

I think you misunderstood or I wasn't clear. 2 years ago internal parts would have been more expensive, fast forward to today and suppliers of the original parts can now make them much more cheaper.
This saving has not yet been filtered to the end consumers (us). Like mentioned previously, price cuts are coming.

that's not the true at all.
quality-wise everything is the same, changes are minor, and based on user feedback:
-slight change to internal thermal system and fans..will use a little less energy and makes less noise but will run slighly warmer.
-use of 1GB (8x) ram modules instead of 512 MBs (x16)..results in slightly less power usage
-shiny top pannel is now replaced with matt pannel due to complaints about the shinny part getting scratched, showing dust and fingerprints and marks.
-power and eject buttons are changed from touch sensitive to physical.
-the LED light bar on console is now shorter in length but brighter.
the cost saving changes usually happen when they fully redesign the console (slim and super slim) this is not the case here, these are minor improvements that's why it's not officially a new model and only geeks and hard core fans are aware.

Picked up one of these when it was around 180. 3 days delivery and no problems at all other than it didn't have the Micro USB cable for the control, a friend received one with his, only about a quid though and I bought a dock anyway.

Unbelievable. When I posted Grade A customer returns at Gem Discounts of this a few weeks ago, it went super super cold in record time. Why is a similar priced deal from Amazon for reconditioned models any better!?

I would only surmise
Gem Discounts vs Amazon.... only one winner
but dont try to figure it out, as it makes no sense anymore on here, for example my other deal, which I think is a 100% a better deal went cold
