Didn't actually buy this myself - only know what I saw as I walked past.
Poundworld in Watford is closing down, so everything is currently being sold for 50p.
Crazy queues & crowd earlier today, but there was still a load of stuff left at the end of the day from what I could see walking by

So Poundland closes and everything is 50p.
So what if a 99p store closes, do they go with 50p or 49p?

Why have you posted a photo of what looks like an American department store, with it's Christmas decorations up? Baffled!

this poundworld closing down sale has been going for few days. I reckon most of the stuffs are gone now. there were long queues on Friday. it is closing down because Charter Place Watford is going to be redeveloped into huge Mall

Probably still not worth 50p.
My god. If you guys actually knew the buying price. :stuck_out_tongue:

I think people are aware of the buying price but the general public can't actually buy at that price so what is your point?

Some of you need to realise the value of time is sometimes worth more than saving a few pence. Spending ages queuing up in a pound store of all places to buy reduced Chinese tat..

Most people who go in these shops have no value on the there time. No job and on benefits.

That seems a little judgemental on a website that's designed for finding cheap deals on items. I love poundland etc - where else on the high street can you get cheap cereal, deo, drinks, sweets and hdmi cables? I'm aware that that makes me sound like an overweight 16 year old, but for those reasons it's great! It's on the high street, easy to get to and reasonably priced.

I rarely am amazed by puerile comments on HUKD but this thread is obviously where some morons hang out. Morons who never actually shop in Poundland. I got Carte Noir Nespresso coffee pods from there recently - Nespresso is quite a posh coffee machine, the pods are rarely better than £4 for two in supermarkets. Obviously being a dole claiming chav I can't afford the real deal Nespresso pods for my machine.

Poundworld regularly sell items for well over the £1 mark I've seen paddling pools for £15+
Poundland on the other hand stick to what it says "Everything £1"

Actually I think pensioners value their time more than most. Considering also that most Pound shops are in the city centre, where most people on benefits can't afford to live or commute to regularly for some knock offs I would disagree with your theory and suggest you take a look in one some time and see that it's mainly working class people, some even in suits!, and of course as mentioned pensioners on a day trip with their free travel card to buy presents for their grandchildren!

I imagine as a humerous example of what the inside of the store may look like. I think its implied Christmas decorations may not be up....

By the time they've done that, accounted for it, packed it, transported it, unpacked it, accounted for it again, it's probably cost as much as just selling for around cost price and getting it cleared.

No doubt you'll pay your staff the same or more, pay the same rent, rates and heating and lighting costs, same insurance, and have far less buying power? What do I think? It will cost you more than you think and you'll be licking your wounds, counting your costs and losses and closing it down within a year.

Not really. Just scan them out, create a manifest and send it away. If they knew ahead of time they could alway bring in fast selling lines like drink and crisps and then take back a pallet for every pallet brought. They move Christmas stock back and forth every year in most pound shops anyway.
