The 3.53 inch top screen produces the 3D graphical effects, while the smaller 3.02 inch bottom screen retains all of the touch screen functionality of the popular originals.

Why? This isn't a gaming site. It's a shame you couldn't be the kind of person who's helpful, instead of just sneering at others.

There's a newer one with coloured A,B,X,Y buttons. I've got the one listed here, great console but some game titles are very expensive.

Heat!
Great price, good bit of kit to keep the kids entertained if they don't already have one!
Im even tempted myself but ill wait for the new Nintendo 'NX' next year which is rumored to be a console/handheld hybrid!

Very much doubt it. They wont chop into 3ds profits for that. The 3ds is nintendos biggest profit maker.

Surprised this is hot, the N3DS is 100% worth the extra £30. This would need to be closer to £50 to be hot imo.

Decent deal but I'd rather get the "New" 3DS with the coloured face buttons as it has an extra joystick which will work better for some games and the 3D effect is a lot better.
I would also recommend looking into the Sky3DS cart, it works pretty well

Because its 50 quid cheaper than the latest one, it plays most games that it will be needed for and its for a 5 year old. Moronic comment.

my 5 year old recently got his hands on a friends 3ds and he was over the moon playing mario kart 7 on it

And? My sons 5 and i wont skimp out just because it saves me 50 quid! The old 3ds is rubbish the new one is much better for kids, the screen and 3d are much more comfortable and you can get them picture backs to make it look cool. Excuses to save 50 quid. Poor kid.

So much wrong with this comment... Are you trying to be a Nintendo salesman here? Or just plain ignorant?
Some people don't have the extra £50 to spend on so called 'cool' covers or better 3dd so to start spouting online bile calling others poor is just plain offensive.
As it happens i could get the new one if wished however as its my opinion and clearly a number of others on here, £78 for this model is a good deal. It's not a requirement to buy the latest and greatest. If your kid has specifically asked for the latest for Christmas then fine go ahead, order one at full retail price and leave this forum.

TBH its 50 quid for xmas, im not even wealthy and i dont see that as a MEGA price difference. Hes gonna be paying £30 per game, the extra value of the new console will serve you well when you wanna get rid of it too, the old 3ds are worth nothing now when selling them second hand. Just saying your kid will miss out on all the new games as they are not supported on this old model, tbh theres none yet haha but im only trying to help, if you get angry over this then yeah be 5 years behind, go buy a ps2 while youre at it.

well its all relevant- £50 saving on a £120 spend is around a 40% saving
being that the name of this site is Hotdeals i reckon a 40% saving is the kind of thing most people on here are looking for
