Hey folks.... Here is my 2p worth... I bought one, very disappointed but only because of the awful control stick... I modded it anyway and here are my results: YouTube Video 1YouTube Video 2 All in the files are about 25GB for all systems... I did not finish all the titles / covers but done 80% They are there and just need to be renamed to match the rom name.

SNES - Plays fine
Megadrive - Plays fine
GBA - Plays fine
GBC - Plays fine
GB - Plays fine
Atari 2600 Plays fine
Arcade CPS1 Plays fine
Arcade CPS2 Some games lag
Playstation Some games play great, heavy 3D games like MGS or Tomb Raider lag
Gamegear - Plays fine
Master System - Plays fine
NES - Plays fine
SG1000 Plays fine
MVS Some games choppy, most game play fine that the average gamer would not notice the difference

Anywho They are NOT easy to mod unless you buy the kit which is about £18 - I bust about 15 SD adapters trying before I just bought one :smiley:

if anyone wants the sets uploaded somewhere let me know..

In reality might be better off getting a psp and installing some homebrew on there, all of the neo geo games ive tried on mine run flawless and its way cheaper than this! plus if you have the 2000 model you could always get the tv out lead and hook it up to your lcd tv

I concur with the above post in regards to upgrading the firmware.

This is a fantastic piece of kit. If you buy the games pack (not the individual 3, but the one with all the games pack on it) then its a great collection.

The controller replicates the original neogeo controller to the T. The original was clicky, and the exact same size.

Extra controllers can be picked up for £34 new, and as previously mentioned, it can be 'jailbroken' to emulate other retro consoles.

This purchase at this price will NOT disappoint.

For anyone who is buying this for a handheld device only then get a GCW Zero... If you want to play Retro games on a TV buy a classic Xbox and get Coinops 7....

Retro gaming is a passion of mine and I can assure you NeoGeo is fine for gaming and retro gaming, however there is better for less money...

Best handheld device for retro games is a Dingoo A320 (if you can find one) its small enough for a shirt pocket and plays most games very well except for PSX and N64

Sorry for the daft question. When you jailbreak , can you play via a tv or does it have to be the viewed on the hand held ?

Hot, though still too pricey for me, really nice looking hardware though and clever portable/home console combo though the games list could be a bit more generous..... anyway to add more games or is that all it will ever have?

Everyone saying this is disappointing, have you updated the firmware??

This makes a huge difference with any issues from initial release firmware.

Such a shame. I was sorely tempted. The implementation is an excellent concept, but it sounds like they made it look great, but didn't quite get the emulation right.

A mate had a NeoGeo back in the 90's. God knows how he afforded it. He picked up an old standup arcade cabinet and we ripped the guys out of it and installed his NeoGeo in there. Was awesome. Not sure his girlfriend at the time was so impressed with a dirty great arcade cabinet sat in the corner of their very small living room mind you .... :smile:

It looks like Nintendo is taking this idea for their NX by having a console & handheld together that both play the same games, at least it seems that way from reading the rumors.

Avoid.
Poor quality emulation of audio and video.
Poor quality screen and parts used.
Nothing even close to the quality of real NEOGEO.

Just what I needed to complete the Neo Geo portion of my retropie setup!

What started off as a 30 quid Raspberry pi now stands me at over 400 (soon to be 500... Cheers op!)

Screw the console, heat for the stick.... And all the windjamming that goes along with it.

I had the original neo geo and I had Magician Lord and Last Resort. That was about 23 years ago!

I got one of these. Hugely disappointing with laggy sound and gfx emulation but a cool piece.

Worth it at this price unless you are a hardcore enthusiast. However I would suggest instead in investing in a really great USB fight/arcade stick and emulating these on PC.

BTW voted hot still, it is a decent price for this and definitely a piece for the collection. The game stick is well good too and I love the click sound.

Had the handheld and sold it on - somehow managed to pick it up for a tenner on ebay!! The handheld was ok but the pad was very clicky. Also, these aren't that easy to hack as you need a special cable to do it. I would say for the price you could invest in a better emulation system and download the roms however mame and neo geo roms can be a bit picky and it can be a pain if you don't know what you are doing.

Its a shame, it's still expensive although this is the best price i've seen for the NeoGeo limited edition. The portable console looks great! Heat added

emulation isn't that great apparently.

though you can easily hack it and get all the games for free apparently
