I've been after a good value £500ish laptop for a while and found this today. I bought my otherhalf a Medion a little while ago and although plastic and cheap it was far better than I expected for the price and we are both very happy with it. Although their laptops are loaded with bloat ware that takes a bit of time to clean up so just a heads up there.
Hope some of you find this helpful - Happy Bargain hunting

Agreed, nice, balanced spec laptop. Not a gaming laptop but can easily play most on low settings at 1080p

Read the comment on the site about the wireless adapter, also no HDMI socket. Not sure how important either of those are to whoever is thinking of buying but worth being aware anyway I think?
I had a 17" Medion laptop for years, great machine, would happily buy another.

The long description says it has a hdmi output though. But then not in the spec list. Maybe worth checking with them?

I'm sure the picture shows a HDMI out but don't think it's listed?

Yes I "think" it does have HDMI (guess I will find out when it arrives) because Medion seem to use only a few cases, girlfriends Laptop has HDMI and the layout looked the same as the pictures for this one. I can clarify when it arrives, same for the WLAN, though one of my USB dongles would fix that easily enough if there is a problem.
Will that be significantly compensated by the SSHD when gaming? I'm not looking for the latest technology but something that will play the equivalent of PS3 standard games.
Thanks HUKD'ers and OP for the find

I'm not sure but is there a possible 4% quidco cashback on this laptop?

940M is basically onboard graphics - don't be fooled by it having an Nvidia brand on it, it can play games like GTA V on the lowest possible settings at 1366 x 768 at an acceptable 50fps+ but trust me, it doesn't look very pretty.
Games like Diablo 3 and Hearthstone run fine at 60fps on decent settings at 1080p though.

It does have HDMI, see side profile on the page.

Be aware this is a Solid State Hybrid drive not a Solid State Drive ie normal hard drive and a small solid state drive shown as a single drive

Would this be ok for music production? Also does anyone know how good the i5 processor is? Cheers

Thanks, bought 1 as was looking to upgrade. Also was really impressed by a Medion I bought via Aldi for my mother a few years ago. Realise that specs vary massively with across ranges and with time but the overall build quality and functionality from Medion was superb.

I had a Medion laptop that I bought in 2010 and it died in 2014. Checked with a repair shop and I was told the motherboard is dead. About two month ago, I needed to buy another laptop. As Medion has low price with good specs, so I decided to give them another chance. Unfortunately, it was proved a mistake. The laptop I bought online from Medion UK is MEDION AKOYA S6413T (MD 98845). During the first month, it seems OK, nothing wrong. It starts very fast due to the SSD. However, it got black screen/frozen screen a few times. In the beginning I didn't know what happened, just heard the noise from the fan is very loud and can't use the mouse or keyboard. I have to switch off the laptop, and restart again. But it happened too frequently recently, and today it happened again and showed a message 'Critical Error' on a white/grey screen, nothing else shown there. Not sure if I can get a refund. If I can, I will definitely try.
So, if anyone wants to buy a Medion laptop, think again.
Don't make the same mistake as I did. I would not try it the third time.

Mine arrived 3 days after placing the order. Happy with the build quality (same as the one my girlfriend has) and it runs very well. Cleaned everything up and now running with windows 10. No trouble at all connecting to wifi as one person mentioned in a review. Only been using it a few days but so far I'm very happy with it.
As for the above comment: these come with a 24 month warranty if you buy from them so contact them. Aside from just receiving this one myself and my girlfriend a little while ago. I also have some family friends who live by medion. They're made in Germany I believe, so I trust the build quality. Just ring them up mate its easy not like companies like Dell where you have to pay per min etc. Just a simple national rate number if you need support.

Medion is good value for money if there is no problem. That is why I give them the second chance. Unfortunately they let me down. I wish it is just bad luck. But I think overheating is a big problem. My first Medion just died suddenly without any warning. Maybe it is fortunate actually that it developed the problem so early this time and I might get refund as I wound not want an exchange.
I normally vote hot for a Medion deal. I did not vote hot or cold this time.
This is a good deal for the spec, but just beware the possible problems.
