Was undecided if to buy one of these but wanted a bigger size, checked online and was surprised how expensive these are.

last time managed to get 2 of these 2 1l ones and a bigger 3l i think all for 35 off ebay.
Must say they are quality and don't discolour or stain easy.

Looks very similar to what I bought from ikea being Indian we have a lot of curries which stain almost anything hubby's been using the same tub for almost a year I think now and even the white seal comes up completely clean after a wash. I'd definitely recommend them.
From one asian to another thanking you very much for this! The amount of stained curry tubs I have! lol

Are these dishes oven proof?

Yes, yes they are oven proof. Obviously the plastic clippable lid isn't suitable for an oven but the glass dish itself is as it's made from borosilicate glass like Pyrex.
I paid twice the price for a round Lock n Lock glass one that is half the size/volume of the one in this deal from Amazon so this is a reasonable deal. Unfortunately, my local Morrisons doesn't appear to be stocking these at the moment though.
I've also bought two of the Ikea FÖrtrolig dishes above in different sizes and the first time I used one in the oven it cracked in half which I was surprised about because I assumed the oven safe glass (as it was advertised as such) was meant to shatter in to small pieces,

hmm that's weird I've used mine in the oven without issue did you take it from the freezer and put into a hot oven by any chance? Could be extreme change in temp which caused it to break. I'd have taken it back to ikea as it's not for for purpose in your case.

Lol that's why we wanted glass dishes as the plastic ones get discoloured and warp a bit in the microwave and then there's always the yucky seal. on the ikea one you can completely remove the seal give it a good wash or soak if you need to and it's as good as new.
for the price the op's one is a better deal than the ikea one.

I know what you mean, but no, it wasn't taken from the freezer. As I recall, it was straight from the cupboard. I always place any oven-hot pyrex type glass dishes from the oven on to a trivet with a folded tea towel placed in between so there's no sudden temperature change, so am aware of the thermal shock possibilities. It may have been unwittingly knocked/damaged prior to putting it into the oven and only manifested the damage when it heated up, I'm not sure, I'll never know for sure and Ikea isn't that local to us so it wouldn't have been worthwile returning it but it's no big deal in the grand scheme of things.
